Vidya Balan's 'The Dirty Picture' sequel in works; Kriti & Taapsee interested to be in it

It wouldn't be unfair to state that the Vidya Balan led The Dirty Picture was a trendsetter film in every manner possible. The film released way back in 2011 and managed to create a stir instantly. From being bold for its content to Balan's brave portrayal of Silk Smitha, the film garnered a lot of critical acclaim and major box office mileage as well.
Now, a recent report suggests that the film is getting a sequel soon. According to the very same report, Ekta Kapoor has brought writer Kanika Dhillon to pen the script of the film. The report further stated that Dhillon might be partnering with another male writer, who is already working on the script of the sequel.
Reportedly, the scripting, work will finish by the end of the year. Kapoor and her production team are excited about their new project. The film will is said to begin rolling in the first quarter of 2023. However, Rajat Arora who wrote the first installment is not working on the second part.
It is also being said that actors Taapsee Pannu and Kriti Sanon have shown their interest to star in the film. Kapoor wanted Kangana Ranaut as the lead but the latter seemingly turned it down. Whether or not, original director Milan Luthria will return to direct is yet to be known.
The story of the film will have nothing to do with Silk Smitha and a new story is in the works. However, the report suggested that the movie will be about another bold story of a powerful woman.
