#TrailerReview: Rajkummar Rao's 'Bose' RAISES further eyebrows on the Nationalist's disappearance

It will intrigue throughout.

How the freedom fighter and Indian nationalist, Shubas Chandra Bose disappeared only to never return has been a mystery for years now. While time and again, developments on the same do keep surfacing, the cause has not yet been solved.

And, in order to put some light on the mysteries revolving around the same and present before the viewers a different perspective to the entire story, Ekta Kapoor's ALT Balaji released the trailer of Bose: Dead/Alive today and we are really impressed.

Bose: Dead/Alive is creatively produced by Hansal Mehta and is directed by Pulkit. The show also stars Patralekhaa Paul (reuniting with her boyfriend Rajkummar Rao after CityLights) and Edward Sonnenblick. The show will start streaming on ALT Balaji soon.

Story:

The trailer begins with a voice over where a foreigner says how Bose is not actually dead and that he wants everyone to assume that he is dead following which there are a couple of people talking about the same. In fact, one of them also talks about how they should be all scared about it.

Cut to, there are various instances shown of how Bose was a total rebel. Quoting him from the trailer, he also says, "Ghulaam aur krantikari mein sirf ek hi fark hota hai, niyat ka, Ghulaam ki niyat hoti hai chakri karna, ji huzoori karna, par krantikari ki niyat hoti hai sipaahi ki."

Throughout, there also have been instances of how he managed to showcase his humour, both in the court and in the class where he hits the man. And, that's when the legend of a man that he is, arises out of him.

In fact, trying to portray how his ideologies did not match with that of Mahatma Gandhi, there also is a scene where Bose says, "Ladai ke liye charkhe ki nahi, fauj ki jarurat hai. Mahabharat ki ladai Yuddhishtir ne nahi jeeti thi, Arjun ne jeeti thi."

Following that, we see Bose taking to the streets of Calcutta and when questioned about the same, he says, "It's my country and I am free to do whatever I want."

Towards the last few seconds, it is shown how he actually escaped to bring about a revolution and did not die. The end of the trailer gives us a voice over which says, "Bose zinda hai aur vo zarur vapas ayega."

What we liked:

The element of mystery to Bose's disappearance (or death, as many call it) has been established in the most bewildering way and keeps up with the pace of the entire series.

And, not to forget, the series also has foreigners for REAL and not Indians who pretend to be foreigners.

Most of all, the point at which the trailer closes is one high point only leaving the viewers wanting for more and making them ponder upon what will come next.

Verdict:

The perfectionist that Rajkummar Rao is is totally visible on our screens and we definitely cannot wait to see what will come next. With a point of view so vast and yet so different, we are bound to be hooked on to the series once it goes on air.

But, the trailer also leaves us wondering about if the series would spark any controversies or opposition as it presents an ideology which might or might not be true.

If he was made the PM and was alive...today india woulnt have divided in 3 countries and we would have been the most powerful nation...
Yet govt. wont declare his birthday as a national holiday...
No matter what as a bengali and more than that as an Indian i will not forget his contribution for the freedom that we are now having.
