Bollywood's glorious past has its share of women-centric films and joining the parade is Rashmi Sharma and Shoojit Sircar's Pink, the trailer of which released earlier today, on the 9th of August, 2016. Directed by renowned Bengali director-producer Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, the movie features the prodigious Amitabh Bachchan and popular Tollywood actress Taapsee Pannu. We also see Shaitan (2011) fame Kirti Kulhari, and debutantes Andrea Taraing and Angad Bedi in pivotal roles.

The trailer kick starts with Bachchan, a lawyer, questioning a woman in a courtroom about her virginity. The story revolves around three women and the one night that changed their lives. From there begins a chain of events which constantly alternates between the past and present. What makes things interesting is that Bachchan's character is believed to be suffering from bipolar disorder. We frequently see a masked version of him stalking the three women, even saving their lives at some instances. But focusing all attention solely on the struggle the three women face, there is rising curiosity that multiplies with every second. They are not just tried by the court, but also the entire nation. We will refrain from revealing anything more than already said, because this one definitely needs to be watched!

The megastar that he is, Bachchan's composure makes his presence felt throughout. Though his last outing in Te3n (2016) did not turn out to be very successful, he still seems unstoppable. He comes across as calm, yet delivers every scene with diligence. However, it is the women that steal the show in this trailer. Pannu never fails to surprise us and this time, she is unrestricted in her acting skills. After her last stint in Baby (2015), this is clearly her best performance in Bollywood till date. Kulhari shines in the minimal screen-space that she is afforded.

Post Piku (2015), we expected sheer brilliance out of the Sircar-Bachchan pair, and they do not disappoint us with Pink. Chowdhury takes charge of the lens here and his perspective of storytelling takes it a notch higher. Despite the regular shift in time frames, the trailer is so crisp that we cannot help but congratulate Bodhaditya Banerjee for the fabulous editing.

A movie named after a color is bound to create ripples of excitement and wonder. We're unaware of the verdict featured in the movie, but BollyCurry's verdict for Pink consists of 4.5 out of 5 stars and many good wishes. Until the film hits cinemas worldwide on 16thSeptember 2016, BollyCurry urges you to tune into YouTube or your favourite video streaming website to watch this gem of a trailer. We bet you are going to be as thrilled as we are!
