There is something utterly enchanting about the skies that are so overwhelmed with emotion that they change their conspicuous contours. From white clouds resembling wispy lace to dense grey overcasts with sudden streaks of silver, they seem to fit every mood ranging from the bone deep happiness of the first blush of love to pathos of heartbreak. Perhaps, that is the reason why rains are often used to describe the most important scenes of Bollywood. As the sharp gusts of wind carries the rain drops in chaotic vortices, we at BollyCurry give you a glimpse of the top rain scenes of Bollywood.

The Rainy Pathways To Romance
The frequently trodden path to love, in most of the Bollywood stories, is a thorny one and yet there is a strange kind of beauty in the erratic beating of hearts and magnetic eyes. This beauty is all the more enhanced when there is a rhythmic pelting of raindrops on dusty pavements and a heart that is in the initial phases of love to appreciate it. Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008), has a scene wherein Anushka Sharma leans into an open window, tilting her face skywards, letting the errant drops of rain caress her face while the words of the person who has created havoc in her senses, seep through her fractured memories. The movie Hasee Toh Phasee (2014) has a pivotal rain scene which not only explains the idiosyncrasies behind Parineeti Chopra's behaviour but also marks the initial stages of bonding between the leads. Indeed, there is nothing as soothing as the music of the loud drumming of raindrops and meaningful conversations with the one who makes the heart skip a bit.

The Heartfelt Monsoon Confessions
The moment of confession of untainted, unadulterated love to a person who returns that love with equal fervour, is a moment that seems to contain all the magic in the universe. And when such a moment is sprinkled with ecstatic teardrops of the skies, it becomes breath taking. The love scene from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) still paints the memories of millions when the leads dance to the musicthat rings only in the ears of those in love, coupled with a wordless communication of the eyes and the heart. The concluding scene in Wake Up Sid (2009) is really heart touching as the leads confess their love for each other after sharing an exuberant hug. This scene too, has rain lazily splattering on their faces, as if refusing to comply with the rules of gravity just to be a part of yet another love story.

The Stormy Tears And Broken Hearts
Sometimes there really comes a mist and a weeping rain, and life is never the same again. There is a strange connection between heartbreak and rain; perhaps that is the reason rain is used repetitively to emphasize a broken heart. The scene in Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003) where Preity Zinta is seen crying bitterly over shattered dreams and dead hopes in the driving rain is indeed painful. Bachna Ae Haseeno (2008) has Bipasha Basu sitting on the stone steps of the marriage registrar office, in the golden glow of a street lamp, with the pouring rain wiping the traces of her tears. The scene, though short, has such poignancy that it leaves a dull ache in the deepest recesses of the soul. Whether it is the pain of dreams buried alive, the disappointment of dreams born dead, the despair of betrayal, the pathos of loved one lost or the agony of unrequited love, one feels a strange camaraderie with the skies for shedding tears in their moments of grief.

Over the years there have been many movies having rain scenes that have left the viewers feeling nostalgic over monsoons. Movies like Aashiqui 2 (2013), Om Shanti Om (2007) and Hum Tum (2004), amongst others, have pivotal scenes shot in the rains.

Be it raindrops lightly touching the face like fingers, the cold seeping into the skin and flowing through the veins, the bodies shuddering involuntarily only to be wrapped in warm coats of love, the fingers curling around a mug of hot chocolate or the strong gust of wind stealing the rain's breath away, the rains have a way of captivating the viewers and stealing hearts over and over again. With this, BollyCurry bids adieu thereby requesting you to let us know which of these scenes fill you with a rush of nostalgia, in our comment box below.
