'Swades' actress Gayatri Joshi and husband Vikas Oberoi survive a tragic car accident in Italy

In a shocking turn of events, former Indian actress and 'Swades' star Gayatri Joshi, along with her husband Vikas Oberoi, recently found themselves in the midst of a horrifying car accident while vacationing in the picturesque landscapes of Italy. The incident occurred during their getaway when their Lamborghini collided with a Ferrari and a campervan, resulting in a tragic loss of life.

The ill-fated accident unfolded during the Sardinia Supercar Tour in Sardinia, Italy. Gayatri and Vikas were cruising in their luxurious Lamborghini when tragedy struck. As they attempted to overtake a massive campervan ahead of them, their path intersected with a Ferrari, leading to a devastating collision. The impact of the crash was so severe that the campervan overturned, while the Ferrari caught fire, resulting in the loss of lives.

The Swiss couple traveling in the Ferrari, identified as Markus Krautli (67) and his wife Melissa Krautli (63) from Zurich, Switzerland, tragically lost their lives in the accident.

Gayatri Joshi, who had gained recognition for her role in the critically acclaimed film 'Swades' in 2004, and her husband Vikas Oberoi, a prominent businessman, were fortunate to emerge from the accident with their lives intact. Gayatri shared their well-being with the Free Press Journal, expressing gratitude for their safety, saying, "Vikas and I are in Italy. We met with an accident here (multiple-car collision). With God’s grace, we both are absolutely fine."

Gayatri Joshi's journey in the entertainment industry had begun with her stint as a video jockey on Channel V India, and she later ventured into modeling. Her claim to fame remains her role in 'Swades,' a film that left an indelible mark in the hearts of audiences.
