Sushant Singh Rajput's ex-flatmate Siddarth Pithani granted bail by Bombay HC

The former roommate of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, Siddharth Pithani, who was detained in a narcotics case connected to the actor's sad demise was granted bail by the Bombay High Court on Monday. Pithani was granted bail by Justice Bharati Dangre's single bench in exchange for a 50,000 rupee bond.

In Hyderabad in May 2021, Pithani was apprehended by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). The police have him in custody right now. He had been arrested on several counts, including violating section 27 (A) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (financing illicit traffic and housing offenders).

Pithani had applied for bail, saying that he had been falsely accused. In his plea, he stated that he had never been caught with any narcotics in his hands and that nothing had been found on him that may have indicated he was involved in drug trafficking.

For the unversed, Rajput allegedly committed suicide in his Mumbai residence in June 2020. Later, the NCB began a probe, based on some WhatsApp chats, into an alleged drug supply racket in the film industry.

The NCB had also arrested several people, including Rhea Chakraborty. Most of them are now out on bail.
