Sumbul Touqeer Khan on criticism due to Muslim background and support from her father

Imlie on Star Plus has been doing well with the audiences and the TRP reports bear testimony for the same. The show has been in the top 5 shows across all channels on television for a long time now. Playing the lead in the show is none other than Sumbul Touqeer Khan.

Time and again, Sumbul has spoken about the success of the show and how she never fathomed that it would do so well. And recently, during an interview with Tellychakkar, she spoke about the reactions as far as working in the entertainment industry is concerned.

The actress went on to quip how since she is from a Muslim background, she did face criticism from society as they felt that both she and her sister (also an actress), should not be a part of the industry. She mentioned how they have misconceptions about the industry and felt it is unsafe for girls like them. However, she mentioned the efforts that his father has put in order to let them fly and be the wind beneath their wings, always supporting them like a rock and believing in them as well as they craft. She added further how he always has complete faith in their work.
