SSR death: Aaditya Thackeray petitions High Court for CBI investigation into his suspected link with the case

In a startling turn of events, Shiv Sena MLA Aaditya Thackeray has taken legal action by filing an application with the Bombay High Court, requesting that he be heard before any orders are passed in an ongoing public interest litigation (PIL) related to the tragic deaths of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput and his former manager, Disha Salian. The PIL, filed by the 'Supreme Court & High Court Litigants Association of India,' has stirred a considerable amount of controversy by demanding the immediate arrest and custodial interrogation of Thackeray in connection with what it terms the "mysterious" deaths of Disha Salian and Sushant Singh Rajput.

In his application submitted on October 13, Thackeray, represented by advocate Rahul Arote, argues that the PIL lacks merit as the matter is already under investigation by the state machinery. He raises a fundamental question - how can a public interest litigation proceed when the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is already engaged in the Sushant Singh Rajput case?

The PIL, yet to be scheduled for a hearing by the High Court, specifically seeks a directive to the CBI to investigate Thackeray, a former Maharashtra minister, and calls for a comprehensive probe report to be submitted. Disha Salian's tragic fall from the 14th floor of a suburban Malad building on June 8, 2020, prompted the city police to register an Accidental Death Report (ADR). 

Just days later, the industry was shaken by the news of Sushant Singh Rajput's untimely death in his Bandra apartment on June 14, 2020. The Mumbai police initiated an ADR case and commenced an investigation. However, the plot thickened when Rajput's father lodged a complaint with the Bihar police in July, alleging that the actor's girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty, and her family members had abetted his son's suicide.

The legal battle surrounding these two tragic deaths continues to unravel, bringing not just the film industry but also the political arena into the spotlight.
