Sonam Kapoor mourns demise of Neerja Bhanot’s brother Aneesh in heartfelt post

Neerja Bhanot’s brother Aneesh Bhanot passed away Sonam Kapoor

Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor , who played ‘Neerja Bhanot’ on screen in the 2016 film took to Instagram to mourn the demise of Neerja’s brother Aneesh Bhanot.

Flight attendant Neerja Bhanot had died while saving passengers on Pan Am Flight 73 which had been hijacked by terrorists during a stopover in Karachi, Pakistan, on 5 September 1986. Her brother Aneesh Bhanot breathed his last today, on Saturday (June 12).

On screen Neerja, Sonam Kapoor shared a throwback picture with Aneesh and mourned his demise in a heartfelt note. She wrote: "Om Shanti . Rest in peace Aneesh Bhanot. Thank you for everything. #neerja #neerjabhanot."

According to a report in Tribune, close family members revealed that Aneesh, who was 62 was on his way back home from a walk when he collapsed at the entrance gate. He reportedly suffered from heart ailments.

Aneesh was known as a philanthropist and authored books on her sister's life, including 'Neerja Bhanot - The smile of courage' and 'The Neerja I knew'. Notably, Aneesh is survived by a son, brother Akhil and other family members.
