Singer Sona Mohapatra slams Shahid Kapoor for a deeply misogynistic & patriarchal narrative of Kabir Singh

Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani's Kabir SIngh is stirring up the hearts and souls of the audience and they can't stop gushing about Shahid's career best performance in the movie. While many are in absolute love with the movie, there are others who are calling it misogynistic and offensive to women. 

Out of the many, singer Sona Mohapatra too is one who has voiced her opinion in public. Yesterday she took to her Twitter account and expressed her rage over the same. She wrote," Didn’t notice the deeply misogynistic & patriarchal narrative? Just intense acting? That is truly deeply disturbing. That you are the chairperson of the @NCWIndia, makes me wonder about what we can hope for when it comes to women’s place in #India."

When TV actor Nakuul Mehta expressed his love for the movie, Sona Mohapatra didn't hesitate to show how furious she is over the glamorous portrayal of misogyny and patriarchy. She wrote to Nakuul,"& how can we keep such deeply disturbing, dark & dangerous politics ‘aside’? Does the actor have no responsibility for choosing to play a part in a narrative that can set us back as a society? Is that all we have become? Creatures of ambition? #LetsTalk #India #KabirSingh.”

Amidst these divided opinions, the movie continues to soar high and becomes one of the highest openers of 2019. Shahid Kapoor is gathering accolades for his perfect portrayal of a man smitten in love. Kiara Advani is gathering praises too but it's Shahid who stole people's hearts. The movie raked in 20 crores on it's opening day and is expected to get stronger in the coming week.
