Shivin Narang: Earlier celebrating festivals involved elaborate preparations, family gatherings; now we don’t

Actor Shivin Narang says that it feels wonderful during this festive time. He says that the traditions that are followed in every festival in our country are so unique that it makes it so interesting. 

“The festive season has kick started and is indeed a wonderful time when people come together to celebrate various cultural and religious occasions. I believe each festival has its own unique atmosphere and traditions, and it's a chance for all of us to unite in joyous celebrations. This diversity and the different atmospheres in various cities contribute to the richness of our culture. I literally wait for this special part of the year,” he says.

He adds, “The festive season often brings the positive aura we all crave for. It's a great time for families and friends to create a good bond, exchange gifts, enjoy special foods, and participate in various rituals. I personally believe that celebration of festivals can indeed have a positive impact on people's moods and lives.”

Spending time with people you love is essential for all festivals. “I agree that good company is literally essential for a fulfilling festival celebration. And spending time with loved ones enhances the experience of any celebration,” he says.

He adds, “Diwali is my favourite festival for many reasons. It feels like a grand celebration and the symbolic triumph of light over darkness. The whole world celebrates it no matter which religion they belong to. It makes it a festival full of cultural values.”

However, the way we celebrate festivals has changed, he says. “Earlier celebrating festivals involved more elaborate preparations and family gatherings. However, due to technology, such as WhatsApp and other social media platforms, quick digital greetings have become more common. We don't meet people during any festival, we just send them a text and feel that's enough. It is not how it is done,” he adds.
