The sudden boost for Schitt's Creek's popularity and awareness should vastly be credited to the multiple nominations the show has received at the upcoming Emmy awards. Having been on-air for over four years and five seasons, it is only the recent boost and talking that the show is bowing out with a buzz with its sixth and final season.
And while it would certainly be a bittersweet moment for the creator and leading man, Dan Levy, the man has signed a three-year deal with ABC Studios, that is now acquired by Disney. The deal will see Levy produce and develop scripted projects for the studio in the upcoming slate.
"Dan Levy has proven himself as one of the most creative people in the TV business," said ABC Studios president Jonnie Davis. "His writing, acting and producing skills will be a tremendous asset to ABC Studios, and we couldn't be more excited to be in business with him."
"I'm thrilled to be partnering with ABC Studios in this exciting next chapter," said Levy. "As I say a bittersweet goodbye to Schitt's Creek, I look forward to the opportunity and privilege to continue to tell inclusive and meaningful stories that shine a positive light out there."
Schitt's Creek is nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series and is co-created by Levy and on-screen and off-screen father, Eugene Levy. For the Indian viewers, the show is available to stream on Netflix.
