Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the director behind the Telugu hit "Arjun Reddy," its Hindi remake "Kabir Singh," and the recent blockbuster "Animal," addressed questions about the recurring theme of inter-caste relationships in his films. In an interview with Galatta Plus, Vanga clarified that featuring such relationships was not a conscious decision but may stem from his observation of Telugu and Tamil families settled in Delhi.

Responding to queries about the rebellious kiss between Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna's characters in "Animal," Vanga explained the choice of staging. He highlighted the rock song in the background, describing it as embodying recklessness and a sense of voicing out rage. According to him, the scene is crafted to portray the characters' defiance after facing family drama.

Vanga elaborated on his directorial choices, mentioning that he wanted the male character to sit in a way that conveys having heard a lot from the female character's family. The intention was to present the audience with unexpected elements after a series of explanations, signaling a shift from talking to action.

In the interview, Vanga also addressed criticisms of misogyny in his films, stating that only a fraction of the audience holds such views. He defended his creative decisions and confronted his critics, emphasizing that the controversy has not hindered the immense success of "Animal." Despite the mixed reception, the film has surpassed Rs 850 crore worldwide, securing its place as the third-highest-grossing Indian movie of the year and the highest-grossing A-rated Indian film to date.
