Salman Khan's summon has been postponed until June 13 by the High Court in the journalist case

On Thursday, the Bombay High Court extended the stay granted by a lower court on the process (summons) issued to superstar Salman Khan in connection with alleged misbehavior with a journalist in 2019. Khan and his bodyguard Nawaz Shaikh were served with the procedure in March and told to appear in court on April 5.

The decision was made after journalist Ashok Pandey filed a complaint against the two, alleging that they intimidated and beat him. The Antim actor had appealed the summons to the High Court last month.

The summons was postponed by the top court on April 5 until May 5. Khan's bodyguard Shaikh later filed a lawsuit to overturn the summons. Both petitions were heard on Thursday by a single bench led by Justice N J Jamadar. The summons against Khan and his bodyguard were put on hold until June 13 by the court.

In April 2019, Pandey claimed Khan and Shaikh harassed and attacked him for photographing the actor while he was riding on Mumbai street.

In his plea, Khan stated that Pandey's accusation had inconsistencies and improvisations, and that he had not spoken to Pandey at the time of the purported occurrence.

On March 23, Metropolitan Magistrate R R Khan issued the process against Khan and Shaikh, noting that a police report filed in the case stated that the accused persons are guilty of offences under Indian Penal Code Sections 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation).

Pandey said that while riding along a Mumbai street, the actor stole his phone after some journalists began photographing him. According to Pandey's complaint, the actor reportedly got into a fight with him and threatened him.
