"Salman Bhai gave me tips on action and dubbing scenes" - Vijender Singh on 'Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan'

Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan marked the return of Salman Khan to the big screen after almost four years apart from having cameo appearances and digital releases here and there. However, apart from having Khan as the leading man, one of the bigger surprises saw boxer-turned-actor Vijender Singh playing the baddie.

Singh received appreciation for his portrayal in the film. Now, as the film has gone on to witness a digital release on Zee5, Singh got into a conversation and opened up on multiple things ranging from working with Salman Khan to getting tips from him and learning from failures.

Did you undergo any specific training, or was this inherent since you have a background in boxing?

When I met Salman bhai, I was clean-shaven back then and when he saw me, he told me he wanted to see me in a beard and I had to be bulky for my character. Then I had trained accordingly and gained 4-5kgs for my role. My weight was 83kgs for this role.

What are the key takeaways? Did Salman bhai give you any tips on any of the action scenes?

Yes, when I met him for the first day shoot, I was punching very hard and he advised me to keep my wrist loose and then punch; otherwise, the hit will be hard. Even during dubbing because I was loud and I used to speak faster, he taught me to speak slowly. He gave me tips on voice modulation and how speaking fast could create a lot of trouble while dubbing. He is the only one who shared a lot of scenes with me, so it was an amazing experience for me.

What kind of failures have you faced in life, and how did you revive from them?

There have been a lot of failures. I revived from them listening to music. I love listening to songs and that has been the only thing that has kept me motivated.

Even though as an actor, Singh has only appeared in Fugly and Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, the man continues to be active on the political circuit.
