Saba Ali Khan clarifies liking Deepika Padukone starrer Gehraiyaan

Saba Alia Khan has explained that when she referred to Gehraiyaan in a remark on Neha Dhupia's Instagram post earlier this week, she did not mean to insult the film. 

On Tuesday, Saba shared a poster of Gehraiyaan on her Instagram stories, writing in all capital letters that she liked the film, contrary to what she might have implied when she mentioned the Shakun Batra-directed film on Monday. Saba had remarked on Neha Dhupia's Instagram picture, “Thursday: On Thursday… Awesome. Fab!!! Friday: Gehraiyaan... I’m wondering if I can switch back to A Thursday,'' she said, adding wink and grin emojis. 

Instagram users reacted angrily to Saba's comments, calling her "very sarcastic" for quietly criticising the film. She has since clarified that her remark was merely a joke and not a dig at Deepika Padukone, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Panday, or Dhairya Kawa, the film's stars. 

"I liked Gehraiyaan. I used the title A Thursday to have fun with it pun intended, vs critical appraisal to the other. A day switched. Not a take on the movie. I didn't mean to become a critic!!"Saba remarked. She went on to say that, while she might not rave the film, it was definitely worth seeing,'' she wrote.

Some Instagram users had made fun of Saba's brother Saif Ali Khan's critically panned film Humshakals when she left a comment on Neha's picture. "@sabapataudi Sunday: Humshakals... Can you switch back after the brain damage?”

Saba responded by saying on her Instagram account that she has never seen Humshakals. "Those who watched Humshakals...I didn't," she wrote, blushing. She mentioned how much she admires Deepika Padukone's work and even made a pun on Deepika and Saif's film Love Aaj Kal.
