#Review: It wouldn't be 'Game Of Thrones' if it didn't start with a DEATH in the 1st episode itself

Also, here are the highs and lows of the first episode...

It is here. It is finally here. Almost two years of waiting is finally over as the premiere episode of the final season of Game Of Thrones (GOT) was released. As you would always expect GOT to be, the 1st episode is usually the build-up to the rest of the season and this was also the same. However, just like Bran said in the episode, "There is no time for all this", this build-up shouldn't last too long.

Nevertheless, here are the 6 Highs and 4 Lows from the episode.

Before you go ahead, this obviously is a FULL-OF-SPOILERS article. And come on, by now you know you have got to be fast and watch the episode ASAP!

Highs

Season 7's biggest highlight was the main reunions that is showed. But we know that the best were always supposed to be saved for the last and one of them was Jon's reunion with Bran. Of course, given Bran's 'I-am-not-really-Bran-anymore' idea continued, it was still a pleasant high to have this shown.

The reunion we have all been waiting for. And boy, did it live up to that! Jon and Arya's reunion had everything. From the sheer joy of looking at each other after all these years, pure sibling love, a slight disagreement and a subtle hint. Arya may not smile much anymore but she is the adorable little Arya again when around Jon.

I said this to a friend while discussing Game Of Thrones a while ago. I believe and feel that the most important story arc will be surrounding Samwell Tarly and it will happen when you least expect it. He probably will be amongst the primary most important person at the end.

The same continued with a fantastic performance by John Bradley. As Samwell learns about his father and brother being killed by Daenerys, his conflict of emotions was a sheer delight to watch. That was immediately followed by telling Jon THAT thing and it also involved so many layers.

Samwell, my money is on you!

Honestly, it wasn't entirely an high for me to witness Jon and Dany's romance as they flew off on their dragons to share a kiss and probably have sex. But two things led me to include this in the highs category.

One was watching Jon aka Aegon Targaryen riding a dragon as he struggled with it and two was the resemblance of their isolated romantic saga to that of Jon and Ygritte's. I certainly felt a hidden easter egg here as Dany's lines were similar to that of Ygritte's. Does that mean Dany will achieve the same fate as Ygritte's? Cannot wait to see that!

It wouldn't have been Game Of Thrones if it wasn't for a death, right? Of course, not a death the fans would go berserk about. Lord Umber (the little one) died after having a couple of moments earlier in the episode. Killed brutally apparently by The Night King, it also delivered the only and fantastic scare of the show.

The most awkward reunion that was awaited was that of Bran and Jaime. Even with a small moment of just looking at each other, Jaime and Bran said a lot by keeping quiet too. But that's the beauty of Game Of Thrones, isn't it? Small moments deliver the largest impact.

Lows:

Bronn being offered to kill Jaime and Tyrion? Nah! I am not quite sold on that. Of course, it intrigues me and everyone to see the many possibilities of the idea now that Jaime and Tyrion are both against Cersei. But Bronn, who has the most amazing makeshift into principal cast, last season did not quite get the launch of this season he deserved.

Is it just me or am I being unfair to still not be impressed by Euron too much? After a whole season and the first episode of this season, I am still not sold by the idea of Euron being as vicious as the many villains before. Of course, all credit to Pilou Asbaek who does a great job as Euron but it is just the writing of the character that disinterests me, for now. Oh and yes, Euron and Cersei have sex.

I continue to find Dany the most arrogant character there is currently in the whole setup. All the 'she-is-the-best-chance-to-save-the-world' saga is fine with me but the pride and arrogance that Dany exhibits time and again is unnerving. That smile she put when her Dragons flew over Winterfell cringes you.

Sansa continues to Miss Annoying yet again! Her animosity with Jon is fine with me but her hatred towards Dany and the reason for that being not looking the big picture of being together allies for defeating the Night King is annoying as always.

Inspite of these few lows, the premiere episode of the final season of Game Of Thrones does live-up to the 2 year long wait and gets you perfectly prepared for the final five episodes to come.

Aegon aka Jon now knows, Jaime has met Bran, Cersei is still mysterious.

We cannot wait for next Monday already.
