In a heartfelt revelation, Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji shared a personal tragedy she endured before filming her recent movie "Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway," which hit screens in March 2023. During the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, Rani spoke openly about losing her baby during the Covid-19 pandemic, shedding light on her emotional journey while bringing her character to life on the silver screen.

Rani Mukerji disclosed that this was the first time she would make this revelation because, in today's world, every aspect of your life is discussed publicly and becomes an agenda for discussing your film to get more eyeballs. She said, "Obviously, I didn't speak about this when I was promoting the film because it would have come across as me trying to speak about a personal experience that would propel the film."

The unfortunate event took place in 2020 amidst the global pandemic. The actress shared that it was around the year when Covid-19 struck. It was 2020. She got pregnant with her second baby at the end of 2020, and she, unfortunately, lost her baby five months into my pregnancy.

Meanwhile, Nikhil Advani, one of the producers of "Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway," reached out to Rani just 10 days after her miscarriage. Recalling that she said, "I kind of immediately... not that I had to have the loss of a child to feel the emotion, but sometimes there is a film in the right time of what you are going through personally to be able for you to connect with it instantly. When I heard the story, I was in disbelief. I never thought in a country like Norway an Indian family would have had to go through."

"Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway" revolves around a mother's relentless battle with the state for the well-being of her children. Drawing inspiration from Sagarika Chakaraborty's book "The Journey of a Mother," the film was directed by Ashima Chibber.
