"I am controversy's favorite child!" - Sanaa Khan

Just like Elli Avram this year, the beautiful model actress Sanaa Khan was Bigg Boss host Salman Khan's favorite in Bigg Boss Season Season 6 on Colors. Once out of the Bigg Boss house, she was offered his film Jai Ho which is all set for release at the end of this month.

Apart from the film, Sanaa is also in the news for the controversies that surround her. Here, she talks to TellyBuzz about her film, the character that she is playing and how she is controversies follow her wherever she goes.

Tell us about your character in Jai Ho.

I play a very negative character in the film. You can say that it has many grey shades to it. My character is shown to be from a very powerful family and is very aggressive. She feels that she has an upper hand in everything and power is within her. It is because of her high handed thinking that all the tamasha happens in the film.

So you have no songs and dance in the film?

No, I am not a part of any song and dance in the film. I am not opposite Salman Khan but have almost all my scenes with him. However, since I play the negative character, I have no romantic scenes either!

What made you take up such a negative role as your debut in Hindi films?

I liked the role when the story of Jai Ho was narrated to me and then Salman Khan said you should do it and you will be remembered for your role in it so I decided to go ahead.

The character sounds to be completely opposite to your image.

Yes, I have a very cute, bubbly girl image and this will be an image break up for me. People have seen the real me back to back for three months when I was in the Bigg Boss house and I wanted to show them how versatile I am when it comes to acting. It was different for me also to portray something that I am not in real life but then that is the challenge.

But don't you think it was a risk?

Risks are part and parcel of your life and more so as an actor in the entertainment industry. Honestly, just like every girl even I want to be a heroine and do the normal song and dance routine but then that would be the easy part, whereas playing negative was different and difficult too. I know that I don't look negative but I have tried to portray that with my acting capabilities and I hope people don't categorize me. They have seen me with no inhibitions in Bigg Boss too so I think I have made the right choice.

What are your expectations from the film?

I just hope that the risk is worth it and I have kept my fingers crossed. My reason and purpose of being in this field and doing Jai Ho is to do more work with big banners and act to showcase my talent. I want to achieve my dreams.

What next?

Well, I have been getting offers for ads and films but I have not given my okay to any since I want to wait for Jai Ho to release first. I don't want to make quick decisions which I will regret later. I would rather wait and take my time. According to me I have done a decent job in Jai Ho and it was a good start.

Salman Khan along with Sohail Khan and Daisy Shah have been promoting Jai Ho everywhere but you seem to be missing in the promotional campaign. Why so?

Even I am left wondering... you have to ask the producers (laughs). However, I am going for the World Premiere in Dubai on 22^nd and I am part of the team, otherwise I have no clue and nothing to say about this.

You also seem to be surrounded by controversies... the latest one being your car accident.

Yes, I guess, I am controversy's favorite child. In the latest incident, I applied brakes to save the auto and he too applied sudden brakes but banged on the car which was ahead of him. The auto driver obviously had no problems with me but the lady driver of the car ahead of him started shouting at me since she wanted damages to be paid and obviously the auto driver was not going to pay so she targeted me. Even the people around tried to tell her but she refused to understand till the police came to clear the road and dispersed the crowd. There was utter chaos and I told the police everything and they called all of us to the police station but it was only me who reached there whereas the auto driver and the lady driver just disappeared from the scene.

Then why did you have to go to the police station?

I went because I was not wrong at any point of time. In the earlier controversy too somebody made up a story and put me in trouble so this time I decided to go to the police myself for my safety and nothing else! I have seen that the more I try to be safe, the more things happen to me!
