Promo Review: 'Mere Dad Ki Dulhan' Seems To Be The Perfect Comeback for Shweta Tiwari

While the title of Sony TV's upcoming show itself suggested what the show is going to be about, but it was still interesting to see what will mere Dad Ki Dulhan actually present. The first promo of the upcoming show recently went live and I have to say, I am already looking forward to it.

What's It About?

Three-quarters of the promo focuses on the sweet-and-sour relationship that daughter Nia (Anjali Tartari) shares with her single father, (Varun Badola). Even though there are instances when she gets irritated by how unreasonable her father can get, she loves him dearly. Her exchange of words with him where she tells him that she will leave him one fine day. 

To this, her stubborn father remarks saying he can live without her (in a fun way though). And thus, we finally see the entry of Shweta Tiwari's character as she mistakenly dashes her car into Badola's. Of course, not the best first impression to leave but they end up in a small fight with each other. It is, however, established that Tiwari's character will be the 'Dulhan' to Badola's character.

What's Good?

What I absolutely loved about this promo is two things - one, the relationship between the father and the daughter is shown to be sweet-and-sour instead of stereotypically depressing. And the second thing that I loved, even more, is that the show is talking about the perspective of the daughter and not entirely about the father. Several movies and shows have already portrayed only the struggles that a single parent goes through raising his/her child. But here, we see things from the daughter's perspective more than other things. It is interesting and refreshing indeed.

The Verdict

Even though the sheer fact that stalwart talents like Varun Badola and Shweta Tiwari are the leading faces of the show should be enough to have you excited; the concept is also the true hero here and if executed well, should be a game-changer.
