Poonam Pandey & hubby Sam Bombay face 100 Crore defamation lawsuit over staged death stunt- REPORT

Actor-model Poonam Pandey and her husband Sam Bombay find themselves entangled in a legal web, facing a whopping Rs 100 crore defamation lawsuit over a staged death stunt that unfolded earlier this month. The tumultuous saga began when Poonam Pandey orchestrated a fake demise, claiming she succumbed to cervical cancer. This act, described as a desperate bid for publicity, has now led to serious legal consequences.

According to a report, an individual named Faizan Ansari has filed a First Information Report (FIR) with the Kanpur police, accusing Poonam Pandey and Sam Bombay of hatching a conspiracy to feign her death. In the FIR, Ansari contends that the duo not only trivialized the gravity of cancer but also manipulated the emotions of countless individuals. He has urged for the immediate arrest of Poonam and Sam, insisting they appear before the Kanpur court to address the charges.

"Poonam Pandey and her husband Sameer Bombay have fabricated a false conspiracy of death. Along with this, they have made a joke out of diseases like cancer. Poonam orchestrated the drama for publicity and played with the emotions of millions of Indians and the Bollywood film industry,” states a portion of the FIR. Additionally, Faizan Ansari is seeking Rs 100 crore in damages through a lawsuit against the celebrity couple.

The controversy erupted on February 2 when Poonam Pandey posted on her official Instagram handle claiming her demise from cervical cancer. The announcement sent shockwaves across media, with her manager also confirming the news. However, a day later, Poonam resurfaced on Instagram, revealing the entire episode was a fabricated stunt to raise awareness about cervical cancer.

In a subsequent Instagram video, she clarified, "I am alive. I didn't die of cervical cancer. Unfortunately, I can't say that about those hundreds and thousands of women who have lost their lives because of cervical cancer." Poonam expressed the need for awareness regarding the disease and its consequences.

This controversial incident occurred just a day after the Indian government disclosed its intention to include the HPV vaccine in the country's immunization program for girls aged 9-14.
