In the upcoming film 'Tarla,' the character of Tarla's husband, Nalin, stands as a portrayal of the modern Indian man, providing a glimpse into the complexities of contemporary relationships. The movie aims to convey important lessons to today's men, reflecting on their roles and attitudes in a rapidly changing world.

Nalin portrayed by Sharib Hashmi, embodies an open-minded and supportive partner. He performs all the traditional gestures of chivalry, holding doors open for Tarla and lifting heavy bags. Moreover, he genuinely encourages his wife to excel in her career. However, beneath this seemingly perfect exterior, Nalin grapples with a common flaw prevalent in men's perspectives – the desire for acknowledgement and gratitude.

Talking about the same Piyush Gupta opened up on Nalin's character, the message the film tends to give and much more.

In the film, Tarla’s husband stands by her through all of her challenges and triumphs. What lesson would you like to convey to the men of today?

Nalin’s character is our view of the modern Indian man. An open-minded guy who does all the external things right- he opens the door and holds it for the woman, he picks up the heavy bag, he encourages his partner to excel at her career, yet somewhere feels the need to be thanked for all the things he is doing. The fact, we men feel the need to be thanked means deep down we feel it wasn’t our job. This modern man has learned open-mindedness, but he has also inherited chauvinism. Through Nalin, we have tried to show this contradiction. I am no one to preach, Nalin in fact, is in my attempt to be a better husband. Maybe one day I will succeed!"

The film’s main message is ‘kuch karne ki recipe’. Did you struggle to find your kuch in life? How did you arrive at your kuch?

Usually we take decisions based on two emotions- hope or fear. I went wherever hope took me.

For the unversed, directed by Piyush Gupta and produced by Ronnie Screwvala, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, and Nitesh Tiwari, "Tarla" is a biopic that highlights the extraordinary achievements of Tarla Dalal. The renowned chef not only became a culinary sensation but also established her own cooking classes and hosted popular television shows, leaving an indelible mark on the food industry.
