Nakuul Mehta: I am just lucky that I am married to a friend I deeply deeply love

 Nakuul Mehta and Anya Singh's ‘Never Kiss Your Best Friend’ premiered on ZEE5 in January 2020 and was an instant hit. The series was young, vibrant and relatable as it revolved around two best friends struggling with complicated feelings for each other. Ever since its premiere, fans have been excited for the return of this popular series and so it did, on April 29. This time, also joining the cast were Karan Wahi and Sarah Jane Dias in leading roles.

While the season has received a lot of love, India Forums got talking to Nakuul about getting his chemistry right with both Anya and Sarah, falling for your best friend, and some more.

The on-screen chemistry for Sumer and Taani, was it difficult to built it this time around, given the change of equations?

''No, it was seamless, it was beautiful for us to experience, but we really enjoyed it and it was like a river, it just flowed.''

We know you and Anya are best friends, but your chemistry with Sarah is equally commendable, what went into getting that right?

Sarah looks so beautiful that she just lights up everyone around her. It was fun, the difference was that I did not know her really well, and for Anya too, Karan was very new to her. I think there's a rawness when you work with new people and it is fun, and that was something we (Anya and I) experienced in the first season. So, when you work with new people, there's a chemical reaction that comes.

How about a season 3?

Yes, of course. If you like season 2 enough and binge it and make enough reels (laughs), 100% there would be a season 3. 

Do you think falling in love with your best friend could ruin the friendship?

Absolutely not, you might be partners but what you need to continue to feed on is your friendship, because if that's there, everything else is there. I am just lucky that I am married to a friend I deeply deeply love and desire. I am also very lucky that romantic partner or not, I feel strength in life or accomplishment in life is people I am able to find or curate for myself in a way and then I make sure they are around and we stick by each other, I take pride in doing that. While there are many acquaintances or people you know, there are only a few people who you can connect to and speak about life, and that's just enough.
