Music Review: Dhoom 3

BollyCurry is here with a review to see whether Pritam's third installment in this series has managed to write history or not.

Perhaps one of, if not the most awaited movie in the second half of the year 2013; coming from the mega blockbuster series: Dhoom 3. Staring Aamir Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra, and Katrina Kaif in vital roles, this Yash Raj productions' music has once again been directed in the limelight of Pritam Chakraborty and lyrics by
the phenomenal Sameer. The album consists of 5 original tracks and 3 mash up editions of the title track. BollyCurry is here with a review to see whether Pritam's third installment in this series has managed to write history or not.

The first track to release is the magical title track "Dhoom Machale Dhoom" which has always been a part of all the Dhoom ventures. In the vocals of Aditi Singh Sharma, this track managed to create waves as soon as it released; it's impressive lyrics and the party-like beats stole the heart of many. One definitely cannot miss out on this addictive party tune which features Katrina Kaif in a very sexy attire, and has the perfect potential of being a massive hit across individuals and night clubs in the long run.

*Fun Fact: The title track "Dhoom Machale Dhoom" is a dedication from Aamir Khan, to Sachin Tendulkar , who during the release of this song was playing his final and 200th cricket test at Wankhede Stadium.

Next up is "Malang" in the melodious voices of Shilpa Rao and Siddharth Mahadevan. The track begins with a classical feel of Arabian music, it gives high hopes of some good entertainment and syncs well with the lyrics. Initially one seems to like the song, however with time the smoothness seems to fade away. It seems like the song is being carried away from it's original start, and misses to hit the spot because it does not have anything special apart from the usual beats.  A commendable performance by Shilpa Rao, her sensual voice does not seize to please. Overall, a song which can be heard time to time, but not once which can be considered in the hit list.

"Kamli" is delivered by Sunidhi Chauhan, it gives an Arabian feel in accordance to the tunes and perfectly suits Katrina Kaif's avatar. However, the song does not give the feel of excitement. Once does not go gaga over it. Although Chauhan's vocals are a pleasure to hear, the track itself does not portray anything above average. The music and singer are good on their own, but they fail as a combo.

"Tu Hi Junoon" comes with Mohit Chauhan; the upbeat music and fast paced track does leave a mark, but somewhere it fails to deliver the extensive bit, and only manages to give a general feel to it. It is not a fail owing to Mohit's fabulous talent of giving his personal touch, but it's not a hit either. Once again, another average track in the list.

Last one in line is "Bande Hain Hum Uske" which is not a romantic or dance beat, but rather a track which seeks to encourage and motivation. Perfectly well set in the voices of Shivam Mahadevan and Anish Sharma, this track does exceptionally well. It is not the type to be heard daily, but its occasional use is it's uniqueness. A treat to the ears in a slow smooth melody.

The official album takes a stop right here, but the title track "Dhoom Machale Dhoom" has been recreated in three mash up editions, two of them being instrumental versions: one by master Pritam himself, and the other by new talent Jackie Williams. Both do exceptionally fine with the potential to be liked by party lovers; however, the Arabic version to the title track in the voice of the Lebanese beauty Naya, is the one which takes the lead above all. Her voice fully blends in the beat, and the package makes it worth listening.

The music album of Dhoom 3 does not give out anything extraordinary but still manages to rock the charts and create a good impression overall. After Krishh 3's music was declared an average, expectations from Dhoom 3 increased. However, it seems like despite huge sums of money invested, the music itself is not any new innovation, but the follows the same trend of the industry. We at BollyCurry can only hope that the album syncs with the Dhoom theme and manages to get higher standards after the release of the movie.
