Music, adventure and more at Gulmarg Winter Festival

New Delhi, Feb 28 (IANS) The scenic locales of Gulmarg are set to resonate with the sound of music, excitement of adventure sports, movies and parties, thanks to the upcoming Gulmarg Winter Festival 2012, to be held March 9-11.

The fest, organised by Soul Curators and supported by Jammu and Kashmir Tourism, is aimed at promoting peace, encouraging responsible tourism and bringing people closer to nature and using eco-friendly products.

The music and adventure festival will give a platform to budding talent from across the country to showcase their skills in music, performing arts, films and alternative sports.

Be it classical, soul, jazz, rock or fusion -- artists of various genres like Raghu Dixit, Rishi Inc., Half Step Down, Traveling Blues and Hashback Hashish will perform as part of the extravaganza, which will also see participation of local people displaying their handicrafts skill, said a press statement.

It will also have winter sports such as skiing, snowboarding, snow-biking through exhibits and competitions.

A short film fest by the name of Soul Film Festival will also be held to showcase a select collection of short films by budding filmmakers.

The Gulmarg Winter Festival aims to be a zero plastic event. Also, the lights at the festival will be powered by renewable sources of energy, using minimum power.
