Mona Singh: "I don’t want to do Jassi for TV because I can’t live one character for two-three years anymore"

Mona Singh is a well-known name in the industry known for her versatile performance and flamboyance. Mona gained fame through her role in "Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin," where she portrayed the titular character. Her performance in the show garnered widespread recognition and contributed significantly to her popularity in the entertainment industry.

Mona is known for winning the first season of the reality series 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa', and for playing Mona in 'Kya Huaa Tera Vaada', Preet Singh in 'Pyaar Ko Ho Jaane Do', and Paridhi in 'Kavach... Kaali Shaktiyon Se'. She aced her Bollywood debut with a supporting role in the comedy-drama genre 3 Idiots (2009), which is one of the highest-grossing Indian films of all time. From then, she is elevating her performances and escalating the audience with her performances.

In an interview with News18 Showsha, the actress unveils her role as Jassi and if she has plans to return to television. When asked about her role as Jassi, Mona said it was the most formidable role she has played till date. She said that nobody wanted to look like that. This was her debut show, and she wasn't even sure about a makeover. She further adds that the channel could have decided not to have a makeover because they were anyway getting good ratings. She took a chance, and that's what she has been doing with every role.

When asked about sharing her most significant takeaway from the show, she said she is spoilt rotten because of Jassi. It made her too picky in life. The show also gave me Gaurav Gera, her best friend in the industry. She further adds that 20 years have passed, and they are still best friends. 

Remembering how her life was revamped after the show, Singh said they had gone to Bangla Sahib Gurudwara during Jassi to seek blessings because they were in Delhi for promotions. She recalls that there was a lady who had come with her daughter. That lady made her daughter to Singh's feet by saying, 'Bade hoke Jassi jaisa banna hai'. She said she was just 22 years old and was like, 'Oh my god, why are you touching my feet?' That lady asked me to bless her daughter.

When Mona was asked about her comeback to TV, she answered that she does not know if Jassi would make a comeback. Mona thinks she should just let the show be because there will be too many comparisons with the original one, and people may not like the new season. Mona thinks if the show comes on OTT, it will work with flying colours. She further adds, "I don’t want to do it for TV because I can’t live one character for two-three years anymore." She doesn't have the patience. This is the reason why she doesn't want to go back to TV in general.
