Met Gala which is considered to be one of the fashions' glitzy-filled events of the year was scheduled on May 4, 2020. However, amid the Corona pandemic, the organizers have decided to postpone the star-studded event in order to avoid the spread as it could have been one of the major catalysts.

The reports from CNN suggest that the move has been taken as a measure to combat the spread of COVID-19 and this is event is one among the canceled and postponed cultural events around the globe.

Last year, the gala event saw the presence of Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra who are also known to be the leading women amongst India’s entertainment industry.

For the unversed, the annual red carpet event, hosted by Anna Wintour, is a celebrity-packed fundraiser for The Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The event has been held, without fail since 2005.

The report also mentioned that on Friday; March 13, 2020, the Metropolitan Museum announced it would be shutting its doors temporarily, causing speculation that the gala would not be held as planned.

A spokesperson on Monday wrote, "The Museum will remain closed through Saturday, April 4."

Meanwhile, several events around the globe have been called off amid the COVID-19.
