Sidharth Malhotra and Tara Sutaria’s new song ‘Masakali 2.0’ is a remix of the hit song ‘Masakali’ from the movie Delhi 6 starring Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor. The recreated version of the song has not gone down well with fans as well as the music maestros associated with the original number.

The original song was sung by Mohit Chauhan, penned by Prasoon and composed by Rahman 12 years ago. A R Rahman too expressed his displeasure over the remix and had taken to social media to pen a note stating: “No shortcuts, properly commissioned, sleepless nights, writes and rewrites. Over 200 musicians, 365 days of creative brainstorming with the aim to produce music that can last generations. A team of a Director, a Composer and a Lyricist supported by actors, dance directors and a relentless film crew.” - Lots of love and prayers A.R. Rahman.”

The writer and director of the original track, Prasoon Joshi and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, too seemed unhappy with the remix and had expressed their disappointment on social media. Filmmaker Hansal Mehta had quite a brutal take on Tanishk Bagchi's recreated version and called it ‘awful and ear-shattering.’

And now, the best of the lot, the Jaipur Police has taken a hilarious dig at Masakali 2.0. Sharing a picture of a man made to forcefully listen to music, they shared a quirky warning to prevent people from stepping outside their homes.  ‘If you are unnecessarily roaming outside we will put you in a room and play Masakali 2.0 on loop’ the Jaipur Police team wrote along with a twist to the song’s lyrics: “Mat udiyo, tu dariyo, na kar manmani, manmani, ghar me hi rahiyo, na kar nadani, ae masakali masakali.”

This post was supported by fans who too are upset with the remix and lauded the Jaipur Police’s post by commenting: “This is human rights violation. Nobody should be forced to listen to that sh*t. It is more dangerous for health than Corona.” Another wrote, “Trolling level infinity.” One more reacted, “Ohhhh!!! Brutal!!”

Masakali 2.0 is sung by Sachet Tandon and Tulsi Kumar, with additional lyrics by Tanishk Bagchi.
