The recent song Masakali 2.0 starring Marjaavan pair Sidharth Malhotra and Tara Sutaria has been receiving immense criticism from fans as well as music maestros. The writer and director of the original track from Delhi 6, Prasoon Joshi and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra expressed their disappointment over the remix on social media. Filmmaker Hansal Mehta too had quite a brutal take on Tanishk Bagchi's recreated version.

And now, rapper Badshah has opened up about the controversy. In a chat with Mumbai Mirror, he shares how he has remixed songs in the past and his songs have been remixed without his permission as well.

Comparisons are inevitable. I loved the Aankh Marey remix more than the original. My 2015 song Wakhra Swag was recently remixed for a film without my knowledge. It worked but I’m still asked to play my version wherever I go.

Badshah also recalled the incident when Rahman praised his reprised version of the song ‘Humma Humma.’

We were at an event and he called me from the other end of the room, to say that he really liked my remixed version of Humma Humma.

However, A R Rahman, who composed the original track 12 years ago has slammed the Masakali remix stating:  “No shortcuts, properly commissioned, sleepless nights, writes and rewrites. Over 200 musicians, 365 days of creative brainstorming with the aim to produce music that can last generations. A team of a Director, a Composer and a Lyricist supported by actors, dance directors and a relentless film crew.” - Lots of love and prayers A.R. Rahman.”

With Bhushan Kumar and T-Series helming the song, Masakali 2.0 has been sung by Sachet Tandon and Tulsi Kumar, with additional lyrics by Tanishk.

Badshah is a shame on Indian music. Gone are the days when we used to hear classic and melodious songs from the likes of Udit Narayan, Kumar Sanu, Alka Yagnik, Shaan, Sonu Nigam, etc.. Nowadays all we hear is remixes and autotune crap. Same goes for movies. Seriously come up with original concepts rather than remaking South Indian, Hollywood and Korean movies.

Bollywood lost creativity all thanks to remixes & rewriting original movies from the past. Moreover, KJo's habit of hiring his nepotism babies over hardworkers is the reason for his flops. Plus, I wish B-town casts age appropriate actors rather than 30+ year old playing younger characters 18-29
