Marathi language day, celebrated across Maharashtra and Goa, on the birthday of famous Marathi poet, Vishnu Vaman Shirwadkar, is observed today. While the language itself is very royal so is it’s style. Think their celestial body inspired bindis to the Peshwai nath, everything spells elegant to the T.
Here’s looking at different elements from the traditional Marathi style via some of our finest Telly Town beauties dressed as Maharashtrian mulgis:
Meet the most recent Marathi bride, Nehha Pendse. Nehha was dressed head-to-toe in contemporary Maharashtrian elegance finished with a crescent bindi, a shape not just loved by Maharashtrians but also by bindi donning enthusiasts and the green bangles- a sign of marital status.
Another classic Marathi face accessory, the Nath. Drashti Dhami dressed in a Paithani saree, Peshwai Nath and the crescent bindi.
How the crescent bindi is famous among Maharashtrians, the placement of bindi also is. It is applied a little lower than usual, like how Jennifer Winget has here.
Now let’s take a look at the traditional Maharashtrian hair accessory, the hair broach ( ambada pin) as worn by Hina Khan.
Dipika Kakkar- Ibrahim donning the regional Marathi drape, popularly known as the Nauvari style drape. This style helps the wearers highlight their curves while also giving them enough room and comfort to be flexible. It is usually clubbed with a green choli.
