In a momentous achievement for Indian cinema, Manoj Bajpayee's gripping survival thriller, "Joram," has secured a coveted spot in the prestigious Oscar library. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Library recently added the screenplay of Joram to its esteemed Permanent Core Collection, signifying a monumental recognition of the film's exceptional narrative and plot.
Reacting to this remarkable feat, Manoj Bajpayee expressed his joy and gratitude for the film's inclusion in the Oscar library. In an interview the actor emphasized that while the recognition is undoubtedly fantastic news, his commitment to filmmaking isn't driven by the quest for validation. Bajpayee stated to News18, "It's a great piece of news that has come to us, and I really feel that we've come a full circle with this. I don't work for validation. I work because this is what I wanted to do and this is what I'm passionate about."
Manoj Bajpayee not only delivered a stellar performance in Joram but also played a pivotal role in bringing the film to fruition. Involved in the process from pitching the concept to producers to overseeing its release in India, the actor shared that he finds his true calling when actively engaged in the filmmaking journey rather than dwelling on the outcome. Despite the significant recognition for Joram, Bajpayee remains unswervingly critical of his own work, highlighting his unwavering commitment to the craft.
The Library of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, in its recent announcement, hailed the acquisition of Joram's screenplay for its Permanent Core Collection. Crafted under the direction of Devashish Makhija and brought to life through a collaboration between Zee Studios, Anupama Bose, and Makhijafilm, "Joram" boasts outstanding portrayals by Manoj Bajpayee, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Smita Tambe, and Tannishtha Chatterjee.
