A few days ago Shatrughan Sinha had commented about Bollywood celebrities donating money and announcing it on social media. He took a subtle dig at Akshay Kumar over his whopping donation of Rs 25 crores to the PM CARES Fund amid the Coronavirus pandemic. Sinha stated that announcing charity is offensive and it will soon replace ‘showbiz’ into ‘show off biz’.

When John Abraham was quizzed about why he kept mum over his donations for COVID-19, the actor stated that he would never announce it or tell his PR to do so.

I think people who have announced, have done fantastic jobs. People like me would not make it public, not even through a subversive way. Not even through a PR person, where you find out ‘Hey, John has been doing this, he has not told anybody, but he’s actually told people to tell’. So I am probably right at the other end.

The actor also revealed a strange piece of advice he received amid the deadly pandemic: This was scary. Someone in the business told me ‘This is your time to buy goodwill’. We are faced with a real-life situation, and it’s not time to, quote unquote, ‘buy’ goodwill.

John adds: “It is something I choose not to say, even if I am doing. Like I said, nothing wrong with people who have said it. Hats off to our industry, we have come together as a unit."

Speaking of how the actor is spending his quarantine, John said that there has been no drastic change as he prefers home food and is always comfortable in his house.
