In a recent development that has sent shockwaves across the nation, veteran Bollywood actress Jaya Bachchan has joined a growing chorus of condemnation against the violence inflicted upon women in Manipur. The incident came to light after a distressing video emerged online, showing two tribal women being paraded naked and molested by a group of men in the region.
Expressing her emotions on the matter, Jaya Bachchan expressed her deep anguish and sorrow at the heinous act, stating, "I felt so bad, I couldn't see the entire video. I was ashamed. This happened in May, but went viral now. But, no one has said a single word in sympathy. This is about women's safety. But you say things like we have selected 50 percent women for a panel." She went on to add, “Hanthi ke daat hai (This is like Elephant's teeth)."
The member of parliament further emphasized her frustration, as she lamented that such incidents occur far too frequently. She drew attention to the lack of transparency in reporting such cases, citing an example of incidents in Uttar Pradesh that often go unnoticed or unaddressed.
Elaborating further, the veteran actress added, "It's very frustrating. Every day something or the other is happening with women. In UP we don't get to know what happens there, Yogi Adityanath Ji never says. What is happening in the entire country with women? Such humiliation. It's very saddening."
The Manipur incident has garnered widespread attention, and not only from Jaya Bachchan but also from other prominent figures in the Bollywood industry. Stars like Akshay Kumar, Soni Razdan, Sonu Sood, and others have expressed their shock and disappointment at the horrifying video, which has ignited massive public outrage on social media platforms.

It is a well planned brutal act against those hapless women. The painful part is, the inaction by police and the governament, who let the culprits roam free after such a henious crime.
