‘It feels as if we are sitting here like your parents & we feel proud of you’ - Malaika on Sangeeta Phogat

This weekend, get ready for some dazzling performances as Sony Entertainment Television’s celebrity dance reality show, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, will have a dhamakedar theme - ‘Chartbuster Ka Blockbuster’. The stars will set the stage on fire with their blockbuster performances to iconic Bollywood songs, ranging from classic tunes to the latest chart-toppers, promising a rollercoaster of emotions and jaw-dropping routines. The celebrities will leave no stone unturned to impress FAM trio - Farah Khan, Arshad Warsi and Malaika Arora along with the audience to secure their place in the competition. The competition is already getting intense, as the show will also witness its first elimination.

Wrestler Sangeeta Phogat, who has brought the country so much pride and glory, has been a surprise package on the show. And, with her undying passion for dance, Sangeeta will leave everyone in awe with her electrifying performance to ‘Hawa Hawai’, along with her choreographer Bharat Ghare. The judges will be left stunned by Sangeeta’s makeover, as she dons a vibrant pink skirt in a completely transformed avatar, bringing in freshness with her willingness to explore new dimensions. What's truly noteworthy is that both the colour and dance style mark a first in Sangeeta's life. 

Astonished by Sangeeta’s performance, a teary-eyed Malaika Arora said, “It feels as if we are sitting here like your parents, and we feel so proud of you. If we are feeling so proud, imagine what it would have been like if your father was here and saw you perform; he would have been proud too. Bharat, you have outdone yourself. The way you presented Sangeeta was beautiful. There were so many beautiful moments in your act. I loved every bit of it. Every moment was created beautifully. For me, this act was a ‘once more’ kind of act.”

An equally emotional Farah said, “Sangeeta, I felt like my daughter was performing. When we got to know you were performing Sridevi's song, we were a bit apprehensive. But you brought a unique flavor, so beautifully and charmingly, without any imitation. You are genuine and a pure soul. I won’t say it was technically perfect, but it was an act that made our eyes swell up with tears of happiness. Bharat, you incorporated those small elements so beautifully, using her costume, and she looked graceful. It was all a part of her. You created tabahi! One act is about technical perfection and the other is about touching everyone’s soul; for us, this act touched our souls and we got emotional. I'm the biggest Sridevi fan. I have choreographed Sridevi, but only you could have done it because you didn't think of matching her, you just did the act being Sangeeta. Beautifully done.”

In a delightful twist, Malaika Arora, the ultimate queen of swagger, will don the role of coach and teach Sangeeta the art of ramp walking, with those killer adayein. Together, both the stunning ladies will turn the stage into their own fabulous fashion fiesta!
