Irrfan Khan's comments on 'EID TRADITIONS' lands him in controversy!

Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan expresses his views about 'EID TRADITIONS' which also landed him in controversy!

Bollywood's talented actor Irrfan Khan got himself caught in religious controversy post his comments on the 'Ramzan Traditions' - fasting and sacrifice of goat during EID.

According to report in a leading daily, the actor expressed his views saying that people should self-introspect rather than fasting. He disliked the idea of slaughtering animals in the name of qurbaani. He explained that 'Qurbaani' means to sacrifice something that is close to you and not the sheep or a goat.

People nowadays don't understand the real message behind these religious activities and perform them without knowing anything, he added further.

Talking about Muharram, the 'Piku' actor stated Muslims have made contempt of Muharram they celebrate it as if it's a festival but in reality it is meant for mourning!

The actor who is gearing up for his upcoming release 'Madaari' slammed Muslim leaders for not putting light on issues such as terrorism and asked common people to question their leaders about the same.

All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB)'s member Zafaryab Gilabi, rebuked the actor and said that Irrfan's advice is not needed, he is not a religious leader!

Maulana Khatri, secretary of Jamaat-e-Ulema-e-Hind also commented that Irrfan Khan must concentrate on his career and should not make random statements. (sic)

God has created animals and plants and every single thing on earth for mankind-either to use for food or to help in other purposes
Killong animals is heimous act so what wud ppl say abt cutting plants?
As far as I know, even plants are living being. They too can feel so y cut them?
Just because plants don't hv blood or they can't express their pain its ok to cut them
We should stop eating veggies too :P
(I myself is not a non veg lover, just wanna know the discrimination, wud appreciate a logical answer)

I fast because it is a required tenet of my faith. I don't question God's authority. It's not my place to do so. As for this man's comments...all I have to say is...It's really ridiculous when people who don't practice...preach. If he doesn't want to practice Islam or certain aspects of it...that's his choice...but he shouldn't make blanket statements about the religion.

Terrorism definitely needs to be addressed. But it is not just a Muslim issue. Let's address it in all of its forms: Imperialistic nations terrorizing and occupying weaker nations; People from a majority religion terrorizing people of a minority faith; Misguided fools committing terror acts and those idiots facilitating them.

Let's talk about it all...and let's talk about the underlying reasons...power, greed, money...but no...you need a brain to understand what's really going on. So let's take the easier way out...grab your nearest local Muslim and blame him for whatever is wrong in the world.

Only agree with him on the Muharram part and the fact that muslim leaders should shed light on important issues like terrorism and extremism in our world today among other things. The other two topics can't be questioned.
There is literally an entire history behind sacrifce. It isn't done because the animal is close to us. There is far more to it then that. And fasting is a pillar of Islam. It is meant for a person to self reflect, to teach them humbleness, restraint, make them grateful for what they have and understand the hardship those who don't have the same means face everyday. Its a different story that people don't take away from Ramadan what they should. Also it is must on those who are perfectly healthy and can fast. It isn't a form of punishment. There are many people and situations which expect you from fasting which includes ill health. Fasting also isn't an excuse to not work. We see labours around us all day who barely get one full meal and yet sweat it out on the streets each day. If they can do it, we certainly can after having a two full meals. Again ill health, and certain circumstances are an exception.

Anyone favouring quarbani as quarbani of animal is just cruel at heart ... Quarbani even if it was supposed to be something or someone favorite ... How come a goat become most favourite to a man than anyone else in the family ??!!!??

Killing an animal is a heinous act so is killing any innocent human being ... Only cowards do such things ...

In response to luvkanksha, in Hiduism the purpose of offering milk (or any other food items) to the demigods is out of gratitude and so that they will continue to provide for mankind. It's become perverted because people now offer as a barter - I'll offer you this if you give me that.
But in this day and age, of quarrel and hypocrisy, the truest and most beneficial sacrifice is to the chant the names of God - in any religion, but whatever names you know Him.

Being a Muslim, i agree with his comment of Muharram. Muharram is not a festival...it's for mourning. If anyone knows the history of Islam, they will surely know it. There is nothing wrong in his comment.
But about the Qurbaani..he's somehow wrong. Yes,...we should do sacrifice what's close to us...but there is another significance of sacrificing goat or other halal animals. He's not right completely here...
About the comment on Fasting...he's wrong. Can't agree with it. Fasting not only keeps us away from food but also made us feel the importance of food...the pain of those people who can't have food...so that we feel inspired to give the unfed & half-fed foods...there r many other significance too which i can't describe in this small post...
So, somehow he's half-correct ...
