Star Plus offers its viewers entertainment galore with the oncoming Jai Maa Durga, a devotional fictional weekly, gearing up for a television launch on Saturday, December 29. With the magnificently successful celebrity dance competition Nach Baliye coming to an end, Jai Maa Durga, produced by Sagar Films Pvt Ltd. is ready to take you on an emotional journey of fantasy-reality and good-evil.

Speaking at the launch of the new programme, Prem Kamath, VP Marketing, said, “With Nach Baliye being the leader in this slot since it’s launch, we’re thrilled to announce our new show, Jai Maa Durga. A property like Jai Maa Durga will only add to Star Plus’ leadership on the weekend primetime slot as achieved by Nach Baliye.” He further added, “It has always been our endeavour to provide wholesome and varied entertainment to our viewers and we hope to achieve this with our diverse programmes. Jai Maa Durga also aims to touch the lives of the ordinary people with its inspirational content and bring their inner strength to the forefront”.

Jai Maa Durga is an adaptation of Durga Shaptshati. It is the story of relationships, and how circumstances affect these very relationships. The love story between Sumukhi and Surath goes through upheavals because of their beliefs in honour and duty, betrayal and distrust. Jai Maa Durga is the story of devotion. Sumukhi turns to the unseen force whenever she is in trouble. So strong is her belief that the Goddess makes herself visible to her in the form of nine little girls. Sumukhi knows that she is always protected by the creator of the universe. It is the story of deceit. Sumukhi's maternal uncle Durjay has his own reasons for trying to destroy her father and his relationships. It is the story of lust and greed. Dhoomraketu lusts after Sumukhi, only to be killed unceremoniously by the brave Surath. This leads to his brother Kalketu's vengeance, and thus the destruction begins. It is a lesson in life, with sage words from none other than the Goddess herself. It is the story of good versus evil – the existence of both is important for the balance in the Universe, but when evil becomes too strong, divine powers have to intervene, so that mankind survives yet another era…

Catch Jai Maa Durga starting the 29th of December at 8:00pm only on Star Plus
