Inside Veer Savarkar's cell: Randeep Hooda pays tribute to Swatantrya Veer Savarkar on his death anniversary

Actor Randeep Hooda paid tribute to the legendary freedom fighter Swatantrya Veer Savarkar on his death anniversary, reflecting on his immense contribution to India's struggle for independence. Taking to social media, Randeep shared a heartfelt post commemorating Savarkar's legacy and his pivotal role in the fight against British rule.

In a poignant revelation, Randeep disclosed that during the film's recce, he immersed himself in Savarkar's world by spending time in the freedom fighter's cell. Attempting to grasp the hardships endured by Savarkar, Randeep reflected on the profound impact of his sacrifice.

Reflecting on the experience, Randeep expressed admiration for Savarkar's resilience, highlighting the daunting conditions of the jail cell where Savarkar spent over a decade in solitary confinement.

He wrote, "Randeep Hooda said, 

"Today is the death anniversary of Sawatantrya Veer Savarkar. A man whose towering intellect and fierce courage scared the British so much that they locked him in this 7 by 11 foot jail in kalapani for two life times (50 years). During the recce on his biopic I tried to lock myself inside this cell to feel what he must have gone through. I couldn’t stay locked for even 20 minutes where he was locked for 11 years often in solitary confinement." 

He further continued saying, 

"I imagined the unparalleled endurance of #VeerSavarkar who endured the cruelty and inhuman conditions of the imprisonment and yet managed to build and inspire the armed revolution. His perseverance and contribution is unmatchable hence for decades the Anti India forces still continue to vilify him....Naman 🙏🙏🇮🇳"

The biopic, produced by Zee Studios, Anand Pandit, Sandeep Singh, Randeep Hooda, and Yogesh Rahar, boasts an ensemble cast featuring Randeep Hooda, Ankita Lokhande, and Amit Sial. Scheduled for release on March 22, 2024, in Hindi and Marathi, the film promises to shed light on the remarkable life of Swatantrya Veer Savarkar and his indomitable spirit.
