I had read about it online and discovered 100-plus FIRs filed: Sidharth Malhotra on groom-kidnapping cases

After creating a buzz with the trailer, the makers of Jabariya Jodi released their first song Khadke Glassy which too received immense love from the audience. The film is a story based on the practice of Pakadwa Shaadi and stars Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra.

The film's concept is very unique and is based on real practice brought to screens for the first time ever and as it is inspired by real incidents, the makers had to be sure with a few facts. Interestingly, both the writers of the film, Sanjeev K Jha and Prashant Singh belong to the same state so they took to fact and fictionalized the story, keeping it as real as possible.

When asked, the lead actor Sidharth if he had heard about this concept earlier, to which he said, "I had read about it online and discovered that 100-plus FIRs have been filed so far in groom-kidnapping cases. It’s true that to avoid dowry, men are forced to get married at gunpoint. 

"Our writer (Sanjeev K Jha) and director (Prashant Singh) are from the state, so they have taken facts and fictionalized them to make an entertaining love story. It’s an interesting cocktail and I was drawn to this endearing character." 

Prashant Singh directorial is shot at real locations in Uttar Pradesh to give the right flavour and will witness Sidharth Malhotra essay a rustic character, for the first time ever with Parineeti Chopra. The due is reuniting to deliver a one of its kind love story to the audience- a surprise wedding of the year which is based on the practice of Pakadwa Shaadis. 

The film also stars the varied powerhouses of talent such as Aparshakti Khurana, Sanjay Mishra, Neeraj Sood, Gopal Dutt, Javed Jaffrey, and Chandan Roy Sanyal. With a stellar cast, the movie is set to take over as a new love saga. Produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor, and Shailesh R Singh, Jabariya Jodi is a Balaji Telefilms and Karma Media & Entertainment production and releases on August 2, 2019.

On the work front, Sidharth Malhotra will also be seen in Marjaavaan, with Ritesh Deshmukh, Tara Sutaria and Rakul Preet Singh in the lead roles.
