In the vast realm of Bollywood, some films have the power to alter destinies and mark a turning point in an actor's career. One such cinematic gem was "Koi Mil Gaya," a film that not only propelled Hrithik Roshan to newfound fame but also etched a special place in the hearts of moviegoers.
Before the advent of "Koi Mil Gaya," Hrithik Roshan had experienced a series of setbacks with three consecutive box office failures. However, this sci-fi drama proved to be a game-changer for the talented actor.
Recently, in an interview with Pinkvilla to commemorate the 20th anniversary of "Koi Mil Gaya," Hrithik Roshan opened up about his method of effectively bringing the character to life.
When questioned about his approach, Hrithik revealed that he drew from various personal experiences. Having faced bullying and a speech impediment during his school days, he found the vulnerability within himself that perfectly matched Rohit's character. He said, “Academically speaking of course there was a DNA match and I took a lot of it from my life. I had experienced bullying when I was in school and I had a stutter. So, life had already given me the vulnerability that the character needed."
The actor also recalled his reaction when he read the script for the first time. He said that it took him some 6 to 7 hours to read the script because after every 2-3 pages. He used to sit and cry. He further revealed that he called up his dad and said ‘papa the script is mind blowing, it’s fantastic, I cried throughout the script.'
The journey of "Koi Mil Gaya" did not end with its initial release; its magic continues to captivate audiences even after two decades.
