Anita, how is television treating you?

It is fun to work on television. Earlier, actors used to shoot for 16 to 18 hours a day but now the trend has changed. Plus I essay a beautiful character and I am working with a wonderful production house. What more could I ask for?

How is your equation with the protagonists of the show, Drashti Dhami and Siddhant Karnick?

We are friends. It is fun to work with them as we decide what will get for lunch the next day and we share food. Siddhant addresses me as Mam' and the rest call me Anitaji but Drashti has been calling me by my first from the very first day. I like her a lot and there are times when she calls me dude!

Anita, you look extremely beautiful. How are you balancing you fitness regime and work?

I am a morning person. My call time on the set is 10 a.m. I wake up at 5:30 in the morning and start my day with Buddhist chants post which I go to the gym. I make sure I start my day with a complete body and soul workout.

Are you missing films?

I am an actor and for me performing is more important than the medium. I believe that an actor needs to put the same intensity irrespective of the medium. But to answer your question, I do not miss films but would be glad to be a part of one if I get an opportunity.

You have made a comeback after a long time...

Yes, because my son Shivam was little and I did not want to be out of the house shooting for a 16 to 18 hours a day. Working hours turned good and my son is 26 years old now. So I decided to return back on television.

How are you a mother in real life?

I am a very hyper mother but he is my only child so I am a friend to him. Times have now changed and children understand their responsibility. If you try to hit the child, they will retaliate. So I explain my son as a friend.

Does your son aspire to join cinema?

He likes to be behind the camera. He has assisted Agneepath and Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani. He is also writing a script and is in search for a good production house. By the start of next year, he should start directing his work.

I support his talent and I have never restricted him to follow his dreams. By God's grace Shivam is a very balanced and sober child.

On a lighter note, what shows do you follow on television?

I follow my show Ek Tha Raja Ek This Rani, I used to watch Madhubala - Ek Ishq Ek Junoon earlier and 24 tele-series too. I like the way Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat is progressing.

Will we see you in the second season of 24?

Yes. It will be a weekly show so I have no hiccups about juggling between two shows.

How do you feel when you see yourself on television?

I feel very shy when I watch myself on-screen and the two biggest critics of my life, my son and husband are always pointing out where I do well and where I need to improvise.

The character of Rajmata is impressive with shades of grey and Anita Raj is exceptional in her portrayal of Rajmata. Drashti Dhami... its such a relief to have you back on screen . Love you... Love you
