HBO officially announced the prequel of Game of Thrones titled House of the Dragons. The series based on the novel Fire and Blood by George RR Martin is co-created by him along with Ryan Condal. Director Miguel Sapochnik, who earlier directed some of the episodes of Game of Thrones will be the showrunner alongside Condal. Sapochnik will also be directing the pilot and a few additional episodes for the series while Condal will serve as the writer.
The official twitter handle of Game of Thrones announced the news on Wednesday morning and also shared a poster of the upcoming series. The poster showcases a three-headed dragon in red colour, depicting fire and blood.
The tweet reads, “#HouseOfTheDragon, a #GameofThrones prequel is coming to @HBO. The series is co-created by @GRRMSpeaking and Ryan Condal. Miguel Sapochnik will partner with Condal as showrunner and will direct the pilot and additional episodes. Condal will be writing the series.”

The prequel was scrapped after a lengthy post-production on the pilot episode and because of the issues during filming in Northern Ireland.
