Happy Birthday Amrita Singh!

Today BollyCurry is here to celebrate the birthday of a beautiful veteran Bollywood actress, Amrita Singh.

Today BollyCurry is here to celebrate the birthday of a beautiful veteran Bollywood actress, Amrita Singh. Born  on the 9th February, 1958 and raised in a Sikh family household, she is the daughter of Rukhana Sultana and Shavinder Singh. In 1991, Singh tied the holy knot of marriage with actor Saif Ali Khan through traditional Islamic rituals and became the 10th Nawab's wife. Fame and success happen to be just two ordinary words for her when it comes to family. She decided on quitting her acting career in 1993 preferring one of the most special phase of a woman, motherhood. Khan and Singh parted ways in 2004 due to personal differences.

Singh stepped into Bollywood in 1983 with her debut film Betaab opposite Sunny Deol after which she immediately rose to fame. As the 80's went by, Singh made a name for herself in the film industry with films such as Sunny (1984), Mard (1985), Saaheb (1985), Chameli Ki Shaddi (1986), Naam (1986), Khudgarz (1987), Toofan (1989) and many others.

In her early years, she was in the limelight for her great chemistry with actors Sunny Deol, Sanjay Dutt, Anil Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan. The 90's arrived with a blast for her in surprise with films like CID (1990), Veeru Dada (1990), Pyaar Ka Saaya (1991), Dil Aashna Hai (1992) and Rang (1993). Along with leads roles, Singh also tried her hand at supporting roles in Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman (1991) and Aaina (1993) for which where she won the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award.

In 2002, Singh made a comeback in an all new avatar and was seen playing a rather elder character in movies like Shaheed - 23rd March 1931 , Shootout at Lokhandwala (2007), Aurangzeb (2013) and the most recent one being 2 States (2014). She also played a vital role in Star Plus' television serial Kkavyanjail (2005) and bagged herself an award at the Indian Telly Awards for Best Negative Role.

Dedicating today's playlist to the gorgeous actress Amrita Singh, BollyCurry brings to you a few of her evergreen songs.
