New Delhi, Feb 13 (IANS) Internationally popular action drama series 'Over There', based on the 2003 Iraq war will now be telecast on Indian television through Fox History & Entertainment channel.

The show premiered in the US in 2005 and chronicled the war's ill effects on the families of the soldiers who were stationed in Iraq.

A dramatic presentation about a sergeant and his platoon stationed in Iraq, the series portrayed how the war affected the lives of their families at home.

Commenting on the series, Sudha Sadhanand, vice president, Programming, Fox History & Entertainment channel said: 'This show comes to India at a time when the sentiment of war runs high with the attacks in Mumbai and other terror strikes in the country.

'At the same time, this drama is not a political statement on war but brings us closer to the realities of a soldier and his family. There have been many war centric TV shows in the past, but this is the first TV series that was produced while the war was still going on making it a challenge for the writers and the producers.'

'Over There' was directed by Steven Bochco of 'NYPD Blue' fame and Chris Gerolmo of Oscar-winning 'Mississippi Burning' fame.
