Dilwale crosses 100 crore mark worldwide; Bajirao Mastani unstoppable

In the box office race, "Dilwale" has remained ahead of "Bajirao Mastani". While the Shah Rukh Khan starrer crossed the Rs.100 mark worldwide in its opening weekend, the historical drama, featuring Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone

In the box office race, "Dilwale" has remained ahead of "Bajirao Mastani". While the Shah Rukh Khan starrer crossed the Rs.100 mark worldwide in its opening weekend, the historical drama, featuring Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, minted Rs.46.77 crore in India in three days.

"Dilwale", Rohit Shetty's romantic action-comedy, has collected Rs.121 crore in its opening weekend worldwide. It's India business stands at Rs.65.09 crore, and it made $8.5 million (approximately Rs.56 crore) came in from the overseas market. Both the films released on Friday.

Starring Shah Rukh, Kajol, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon in pivotal roles, "Dilwale" is receiving hearty response abroad, says trade analyst Komal Nahta.

"Dilwale Overseas: Gulf - biggest ever opening for a Bollywood film, and the number one film this weekend, higher than 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' and other films," Nahta posted on Twitter.

"Britain - highest opening for a Bollywood film in 2015. Australia - biggest opening of 2015, biggest ever for SRK. Malaysia - biggest opening for a Bollywood film. New Zealand - number two on box office charts. US - number nine in top 10 chart," he added.

The collection of "Bajirao Mastani" witnessed a good hike over the weekend and the film is going strong in theatres with positive word of mouth, according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

"#BajiraoMastani is unstoppable. Super word of mouth translates into super biz. Friday Rs.12.80 crore, Saturday Rs.15.52 crore, Sunday Rs.18.45 crore. Total: Rs.46.77 crore," Adarsh tweeted.

"Bajirao Mastani" made Rs.12.80 crore on its opening day after releasing in 3,050 screens in India, while it is reported that "Dilwale" made its way into as many as 2,700 screens.

As both films are made over a budget of Rs.100 crore, the upcoming days would be crucial for them in theatres.

There would be no competition for "Dilwale" and "Bajirao Mastani" on Christmas and January 1, so they will have sufficient time to prove their mettle.

Actually am agree with ghalibmirza and prem_diwani, i have watched both of the movies, yer dilwale is taking the edge of SRK and Kajol fandom, 2ndly its a melodrama. While BajraoMastani is the brilliant concept with strong story line, give you a full liability to visit your own imaginary world... Supper class acting by Both Dapeeka and Paryanka... Mind blowing Dialogues . yes it was clear by Indian Express. you should check the facts. I have checked most of the time you people change the facts and make a different story. Like you did with Sanaya Irani's engagement news, and when she has denied you have nothing to write.

first of all dilwale has more screens than BM, secondly dilwale is the film for masses that is why it has edge over BM and ofcourse SRK kajol chemistry, even if film is a dud it will work.

BM on the other hand is class apart and once you come out of the theatres only one reaction..wow!..it takes courage to make films like BM whereas masala films are made only to make profits!

BM is a must watch as it will take you somewhere else for that time and lingers on later as well, i will rewatch it to experience the magnificent sets and mind blowing performance of ranveer singh ince again!

btw BM has made 90 crores worldwide as per indian express article and also it is running housefull here in vancouver/canada cinemas and people are loving it!

Saw both ... Bajirao Mastani was a brilliant movie... The story, acting, visual feel and emotional connect with the movie was a class apart... Ranveer, deepika, Priyanka, tanvi azmi, milind and other characters were so real and brilliant...

Dilwale was a standard masala pic that srk- kajol elevated with their chemistry. But nothing to write about. Varun was cute, songs good, the friend borrring, and goa beautiful.

Wrong news about Bajirao Mastani. It has made 90 crores overall. (including domestic and foreign) Here's the link as a proof:
http://indianexpress.com/article/entertainment/bollywood/bajirao-mastani-box-office-collections-ranveer-singh-deepika-padukones-film-collects-rs-90-80-crore-worldwide/

The partiality of IF clearly visible here. Dilwale's worldwide collections mentioned while BM's collections are given as 47 crore just to demean it. This is sickening.

Just state the facts right!!!

Don't know about others but 'Dilwale' was paisa vasool for me. SRK-Kajol defines love, chemistry, intensity. Got butterflies in my stomach watching them together, Songs are good too.
Planning to catch Bajirao-Mastaani too. Festive times are family-movie times <3 loving it

I am fan of SRK+Kajol and totally loved Dilwale.. Full fun .. I watched Bajirao Mastani too and liked that too. In fact in area where I live in US, on a given day so far, next 2-3 shows of BM are running housefull. It is holidays break, and with Star Wars.. that gets longest lines waiting outside theatres too.. I believe all three films can make money..

Can you guys PLEASE fix the error...BM had less screens than Dilwale (obviously that affects how Dilwale had 65 crores vs BM's 47). Seems like you have reversed the screen count. Dilwale should be 3050 and BM 2700
