'Bodyguard' director Siddique passes away at 69 due to cardiac arrest

The world of cinema mourns the loss of a true visionary as news emerges of the passing of the revered Malayalam filmmaker, Siddique. Aged 69, Siddique left an indelible mark on the industry with his remarkable contributions. His demise comes after a critical battle following a cardiac arrest on August 7, which led to hospitalization in a Kochi hospital. His condition further deteriorated, and he was placed on ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation), a life support system, due to cardiac arrest, liver-related issues, and pneumonia.

Siddique's cinematic journey began as an assistant director alongside his friend Lal, under the guidance of veteran filmmaker Fazil in 1983. The dynamic duo went on to deliver cinematic gems that captivated audiences, including the iconic films 'Ramji Rao Speaking, 'In Harihar Nagar, 'Godfather,' and 'Vietnam Colony.'

His expertise transcended regional boundaries as he ventured into directing Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi films. Siddique's directorial prowess reached Bollywood with the Salman Khan-starrer 'Bodyguard, where he showcased his mastery. His final film, 'Big Brother,' released in 2020, featuring the esteemed Mohanlal in the lead role, alongside an ensemble cast.

Siddique's cinematic contributions extended beyond his direction; his work reflected the common man's issues, resonating with audiences on a profound level. His ability to present relatable narratives endeared him to the masses, leaving an irreplaceable void in the industry.

He is survived by his wife Sajitha and their three daughters. As the news of his demise spreads, the film fraternity and fans gather to pay homage to the humble genius.
