Setting benchmarks is what 'Beyhadh' was planned to do. Bringing in a change in TV viewing is what 'Beyhadh' was planned to do. And in four months of its runtime, the show has become a pioneer in doing the same.

Maya (Jennifer Winget) and Arjun (Jennifer Winget) ki Shaadi was one of the most awaited ones and needless to say, it was not gonna be just any other marriage. The wedding happened and it was a bombardment of suspense, emotions, shockers and immense drama. From Arjun, Maya, and Janvi (Kavita Ghai), all washing their blood-filled hands in the beginning to Saanjh's (Aneri Vajani) dual emotions; from the mandap catching fire with Maya getting married amidst the flames and, finally, a helpless, injured, fumbling Ashwin (Rajesh Khattar) coming to the wedding pointing finger at Maya and Janvi falling in the wedding pyre; it was one conglomerate of too many emotions. And, the next thing we know, Ashwin is DEAD.

The Highs

It couldn't have been a better beginning to the episode, where the director and cameraman aces in giving you the thrills and chills by rotating the frames at Arjun, Janvi, and Maya, who are all washing their hands filled with blood at the basin. Thoughts, assumptions, and suspense instantly grip you.

We can safely say that in this episode, Aneri Vajani aka Saanjh has absolutely shut the mouths of all the critics and viewers who kept criticizing her characterisation and not 'performing' the character of Saanjh well. We witnessed a totally different Saanjh in the episode, where she took ownership of herself and stood up to Arjun and warned him to get back to the mandap. Just when you love the way this side was shown, Aneri also aces the emotional scenes to perfection. Not being over-dramatic, she emoted the pain of love amazingly.

The female cover of 'Channa Mereya' was soothing and couldn't have been any perfect for the scene where Saanjh ties Arjun's 'paghdi' and does the 'gatthbandhan.'

Arjun getting up midway from the wedding to stop Saanjh and that 'Please don't go Saanjh' and 'I don't have the strength to see you get married to someone else' moment was a winner too.

Haha! You thought you can hug Arjun and have a moment while Maya just watches by. No No! You don't do such things in front of Maya, do you! A possessive and jealous Maya is getting all worked up watching Arjun-Saanjh's moment which leads her to pull the garland, thus leading to a push on the diya.

The flame in the diya has led to burning the cloth next to it, thus spreading all the way to the mandap completely. Boom! A massive fire engulfs the mandap and there is a huge hustle-bustle at the spot.

And came the second biggest high of the show; Maya forcing Arjun to get married in that flaming mandap. Preposterous, insane, and absolute madness, isn't it? Well, that's Maya for you!

The marriage takes place in a way no one would have ever imagined. Amidst the flames, while the pandit is reading the mantras as he stands outside.

However, we were sure in for another Boom moment! Here is the biggest high of the episode! Just as the marriage ends, Ashwin enters the scene. He is fumbling, injured, bamboozled and on the verge of falling. That is when he points his finger towards the mandap. After pointing the finger at Janvi, he points the finger at Maya. This confusion is ended by a shocker as Ashwin falls into the pyre thus taking his last breath and leaving everyone wondering, what actually happened!!

The last 'high' moment is the precap of the next episode too, where the cops take Arjun into custody for being the suspect of Ashwin's murder. And this, obviously does not go down well with Arjun's mother (Swati Shah), who slams Maya that a marriage with the beginning of a death can never last. Maya is shocked and worried at the end.

The Lows

In such an episode, we can barely mark out a negative or a 'low' moment. However, just micro-analysing it, the 'filmy' dialogues between Arjun and Saanjh about eternal love and friendship were just a bit overboard. But, that is just being nit-picky.

The Verdict

It has been a ritual where we keep talking about Jennifer Winget's brilliant performance as Maya and this was no other exception. From emoting the quiet Maya in the beginning to jealous Maya to an adamant Maya and finally, a scared Maya, it was a treat. And as mentioned above, the biggest surprise and relief was to watch Aneri as Saanjh, where she absolutely slayed it in this episode. Kushal was at his usual performance, balancing the ladies quite well.

Rating - ****1/2 (4.5/5)

The precap has already set itself to unravel the biggest mysteries and we are set and ready to be on this ride.

@Nietzy: Nitzy, why should Jennifer Winget leave the show? I understand you might be little affected by some negativities, but come on yaar, when she and her show are receiving so much love and accolades for her amazing performances and its uniqueness from all over the world, fans, media, and industry alike, why should she leave the show? She and her character Maya are the heart and soul of Beyhadh, and even if Maya turns negative, I'd still be proud of Beyhadh and Jennifer Winget :)

Nice analysis...the episode stealing moment for me was the lone tear drop on Maya's eye when Arjun was displaying his love to his bff Saanjh...Jennifer Winget slayed it again!

This so-called maha episode is that that good. The only consolation was Arya wedding. Saanjh has created a tamasha in front of the public.
