Ankur's possessiveness is not letting him think logically: Varun Hemraj Khandelwal

The happiness of Sandhya delivering twins in Shashi Sumeet Mittal's popular show Diya Aur Baati Hum, (Star Plus) didn't last for long in the Rathi house as Suraj (Anas Rashid) and Sandhya (Deepika Singh) decided to give away their one child Vansh to Ankur, (Varun Hemraj Khandelwal) and Ankita (Shubha Uplopwar) for the happiness of Bulbul.

Ever since the show has commenced, we have seen different shades of Ankur. The talented actor Varun Hemraj Khandelwal, who essays the character of Ankur in the show is happily enjoying playing this character as he is getting to play so many shades.

TellyBuzz spoke to Varun to know more about his character and portraying the different shades of Ankur on-screen as an actor.  

Varun says, "I am enjoying it a lot. It's challenging and fun as an actor to show different shades of emotions like every other human being. We all have so many shades of emotions. So, Ankur is getting a chance to portray his emotions in one go and I am very happy that I have got so much to explore as an actor. At one time, I am a positive guy who is showing his love towards his son by not realizing that he has got his son from her sister Sandhya. Now, he has become so possessive that he is fighting with the mother only who also happens to be his real sister. It's a great challenge to play this character."  

Having essayed so many shades of Ankur on-screen, we wondered which phase of Ankur's life has Varun enjoyed the most. When we asked Varun about it, he said, "I love playing the character of Ankur and its very hard for me to distinguish that which shade of Ankur, I enjoy playing the most because this character has always bought something to the story whether being a good brother, a selfish Ankur, an over possessive brother, a brother facing a guilt for not standing beside her sister or a possessive father of Vansh; I am happy playing all the shades of Ankur. Shashi Ma'am has written such beautiful scenes from an angry Ankur to a crying Ankur that I can't distinguish as which emotion of Ankur I have loved playing. I get to so many things while portraying this character and I love this character."  

Talking about his take on Ankur's behavior towards Suraj and Sandhya, Varun further adds, "Ankur is wrong here but it's being what we are trying to show here that Vansh is a kid and Bulbul wanted to have a sibling. Now, when Vansh has entered their lives, Ankur has become over possessive towards his son. Now he is not thinking logically about what he is doing. Now, he thinks that everybody is going against the will of a father and they will take Vansh away. His possessiveness is not letting him think logically. He is wrong but sometimes it happens in life. Ankur is thinking with his own logic that if Suraj and Sandhya have given away their kid to him then they should not try to show their affection as parents towards Vansh. He thinks that his logic are right."  

One always learns something while portraying a character. When we asked Varun as what he has learnt while essaying the character of Ankur, he told us, "You should not always think from your brain or heart. When your brain thinks then your heart has to rectify and when your heart thinks then your brains has to rectify. A connection between your brain and heart is very important. We should also think logically and practically while making any decision. Sometimes we also have to listen to our heart. Money can't buy all the things and you cannot overpower on anything. Relationships are very important in life and they must be valued."  

Varun feels happy to get hate mails from the fans. He said, "People hate Ankur! I would congratulate the writers in the team for bringing in certain jolt to the audience with their character. If they hate me, it's because of their write ups and I am happy that they hate me. If people hate me then it means that the character is doing really well."
