Ankit Raj opens up about what went WRONG with 'Ishqbaaaz' & 'Laado 2'

And he also throws some light on his upcoming role in Sony TV's Yeh Pyaar Nahi Toh Kya Hai.

Actor Ankit Raj is all set and ready to make his acting return with Sony TV's much-awaited, Yeh Pyaar Nahi Toh Kya Hai, where he plays the spoiled brat and the on-screen brother to debutante, Palak Jain.

While, this is a character and show that the actor is going to be a part of throughout the run, he has only done cameo roles in recent times, be it Laado 2 - Veerpur Ki Mardani or Ishqbaaaz.

In a vis-a-vis conversation with the actor, he spilled the beans on why did he exit Laado 2 - Veerpur Ki Mardani and Ishqbaaaz apart from talking about his character of Kartik in Yeh Pyaar Nahi Toh Kya Hai.

On Laado 2's exit, he said, "Colors did not want me to leave Laado 2. I was already working with them for 6 months, but what I was initially told about the character, I wasn't doing that. Hence, in the 2nd month itself, I told my creative head that this is not working out. To that, I was said that let 20 episodes pass away and I will give you what was promised. Unfortunately, after 20 episodes, the creative got changed, albeit my character was given a boost. But, I had already signed this show (Yeh Pyaar Nahi Toh Kya Hai) by then and that was only because, I wasn't creatively satisfied in Laado 2 and when as an actor, you aren't enjoying what you do, it becomes difficult to continue to work. In fact, I still remember how all the promos were on me, Ammaji (Meghna Malik) and Rituraj Singh. But, once it began, it just became an all out Anushka (Avika Gor) show. We actually have nothing to do there and that is also why Meghna and Rituraj also left the show."

He added, "So, I told them in the 2nd month itself, that it's not working out, so plan the character an exit in a fair manner. They took another couple of months to plan it and then I was no longer a part of the show. But, having said all this, the production house is amazing to work with and I would love to work with them again."

On his abrupt departure from Ishqbaaaz, he said, "I faced a similar situation with Ishqbaaaz. I signed for the show and I was told about how in a particular way, the character will be shaping up and I began shooting. But, due to sheer bad luck, that was also the time Dil Boley Oberoi got shut and merged into Ishqbaaaz once again. So, when I signed on, we had the perfect track set with myself, Additi Gupta, Surbhi Chandna and Nakuul Mehta being the central characters. However, due to the merger, the writers and creatives had to now cater to so many characters once again."

And finally about his character in the upcoming show, Yeh Pyaar Nahi Toh Kya Hai, "In Yeh Pyaar Nahi Toh Kya Hai, the 180 episodes which are being planned, there is a graph that Kartik, my character goes through. He starts from a particular point and ends at a completely different place."

These days I seriously wish IB & DBO merger didnt happen :(
Only watching for Nakuul Mehta and Surbhi Chandna
otherwise the show has become just bad these days

thank you for saying "the writers had to cater to so many characters at once"... that is reality of IB.. they keep bringing in people and not complete any story. what the hells the point?

Well I guess these are shows where nothing is shown as per what was promised in the promos.
In a show where other leads aren't given anything , what can you expect for a cameo ?
Few fans still linger around because of a stupid emotional attachment which we're not able to get rid off...and nothing else !

I think Ankit Raaj is a great actor. When there was news about a model entering Qubool Hai back then, I was expecting this uptight and stiff actor. But he took me by complete surprise. Love how his body language was nothing near to stiff. In fact he was utlizing everthing apart from his expressions. The other lead was more rigid in comparison. In Ishqbaaaz he was relatively 'impassive' and 'stiff' but I realized that was because of how his character was supposed to be .. The fluidity in him was back in his portrayal in Laado 2. Also wondered what happened why his character was scrapped in IB, glad he revealed the reason. Makes sense.

Ankit Raj is one of the most underrated actor. He was nice in Qubool Hai and Mastaangi and even an Life Ok supernatural show as a vampire. I think he is the 4th actor leaving the show. I won't be surprised if Avika gets more people hating her soon. Avika has become what Surbhi has become for Ishqbaaaz that is personal favourites of the makers while others can go to hell. Its sad to see talented actors leaving this show one after another due to one overrated actress who grew up playing only bahu roles. Anushka is a joke in the name of a lawyer.
