Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Santoshi reunite for epic partition drama starring Sunny Deol

Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Santoshi are embarking on an exciting cinematic journey together, marking their reunion after three decades. This dynamic duo has announced a two-movie deal that has sent waves of anticipation through the film industry.

Their first collaboration in this new venture features the charismatic Sunny Deol in the lead role, following his remarkable success with "Gadar 2." This project marks Deol's fourth partnership with Santoshi, the mastermind behind hits like "Damini," "Ghayal," and "Ghatak."

According to reports, the gripping storyline of their upcoming film is based on the acclaimed Punjabi play, "Jis Lahore Nai Dekhya O Jamyai Nai" by Asghar Wajahat, the narrative unfolds against the backdrop of the tumultuous 1947 India-Pakistan partition. It revolves around a Muslim family's migration from Lucknow to Lahore, where they inherit an abandoned haveli left behind by a departing Hindu family. 

The plot thickens as an elderly Hindu woman claims her right to stay, refusing to vacate the haveli. Santoshi and Wajahat have masterfully adapted this emotionally charged play for the silver screen, promising a cinematic experience of epic proportions.

Pre-production is already in full swing, with shooting scheduled to commence in December 2023 or January 2024. This project has been a long-cherished dream for Rajkumar Santoshi, who initially planned it with Anil Kapoor in 2013 but faced unforeseen obstacles. He made another attempt in 2018 with Sunny Deol, but budget constraints hindered progress. With the support of Aamir Khan Productions and Jio Studios, this partition drama is finally getting the green light. Described as a dramatic action film, it will feature an ensemble cast alongside Sunny Deol, with casting for other pivotal roles currently underway.

Meanwhile, after a year-long acting hiatus, Aamir Khan is gearing up to return to the set. He is set to star in RS Prasanna's sports drama, an adaptation of the 2018 Spanish hit "Campeones," with filming scheduled to begin in January 2024.
