PART 41
City Hospital
An aged lady is sobbing while covering her mouth with shawl, she stood beside a strict looking aged man, his face didn't express much emotions but frown between his eyebrows and wrinkles on his face displayed that he is not at ease.
Sameer came and stand beside them and asked "Excuse me, ap log....?"
The man turned and glared at Sameer. Seeing the man, Sameer stood shocked at his place. The lady whimpered in between her sobs "Hume hamare bete ko dekhna hai. Hamara beta Arjun woh..."
Chotu cleared his throat not able to understand what to say. Sameer came out of his shock and said "Uh! Sorry, we forgot to inform you that.."
Suddenly a girl in her late 20s, came infront of Sameer almost pushing others and rudely demanded "Excuse me! Inform what? How could you not inform us about him? We are his family, we are suppose to be informed first of all."
Sameer frowned and asked turning towards the man, "Sorry, ye kaun hai?"
"Meri assistant Ruchi Singhania." The man replied not showing much interest before he added "Ab kya mai use dekh sakta hun?"
"Uncle! Ap mere saath aaiye lekin aur kisi ko hum abhi permission nahi dekh sakte." Sameer stated respectfully.
Chotu whispered "Sir ye kaafi dekhe dekhe se lag rahe hain, ap inhe jaante hain?" Rathod whispered back "Haan Chotu, senior Rawte hain. Can't you see?" Shocked Chotu gasped "Hey Deva!"
"What do you mean? Do you know, ap kisse baat kar rahe hain? He is Mr Suryakant Rawte leave aside his background, he is the father of ACP Arjun. Ap ek father ko uske bete se milne nahi dekhenge. Mai abhi authorities se baat karti hun. Ek tou tum log hamare Arjun ko bacha nahi sake upar se....." Ruchi spoke angrily.
"Dekhiye Miss." Chotu tried to calm the girl as he put his hand infront of Rathod to keep her at distance but she rude pushed his hand away as she threatened "Don't you dare! Mai sirf Suryakant uncle ki assistant hi nahi, Arjun ki hone wali... huh! Forget it. Let me see who dares to stop us from meeting him?"
The aged lady frowned and spoke "Chup karo!" Then turning towards Suryakant, she scolded "Surya tu aj bhi kuch nahi bolega? Aur kab tak dusron ko tere aur Arjun ke beech mei bolne dega? Kab tak tu apne bete se naraaz hone ka naatak karega? Kab tak usko milne ke bahane dhundega? Aj tou ye sab khatam karde, uski antim gadi.... " She started crying again.
"Taai, Mai..." Suryakant tried to speak but words didn't came out.
"Bas kar Surya! Aur kuch nahi sunna mujhe." The lady spoke before talking to Sameer "Dekho beta, Mai Arjun ki mausi hun. Kya mai apne bacche se aakhiri baar mil sakti hun?"
Sameer widened his eyes as he asked "Ap Lata mausi hain?" Lata nodded her head and asked "tum hume kaise jaante ho?"
"Raw.... Mera matlab Arjun aksar apki baat karta tha." Sameer replied respectfully, remembering how Arjun used to mention his mausi as the only person who loved and cared for him after his mother died.
"Tum yahan kya kar rahe ho?" Suryakant asked impatiently.
"Uncle, mai aur Arjun saath mei ETF ko lead karte hain. Mai team ka chief hun." Sameer replied.
"Tum uske saath the, tab bhi usko marne diya.. kaise dost ho tum? Haa!!?" Suryakant furiously asked clenching his fist.
"Uncle woh..." Sameer tried to reply.

On the other side, Liza called Ayesha and asked "Ayesha, tu kidhar hai?" "Riya ke saath hun. Kyun kya hua?" She replied.
Liza said "Okay.. No, nothing I just thought you might want to help Rathod sir."
"Why? What happened to him?" Ayesha inquired.
"Arre... There are some people outside of morgue demanding to see Arjun sir. I think Rathod sir and Chotu are having hard time. Aur upar se commisioner sir alag Rathod sir ka wait kar rahe hain." Liza replied.
Riya heard the conversation and exclaimed "Let me handle this."
"But you need to rest Riya." Ayesha tried to negotiate but Riya said "Relax Ayesha. I'm feeling much better now and I can't just spend all day resting, right?"
Sighing, Ayesha shook her head at Riya's stubbornness before helping her out.

So when Riya saw Sameer confused with words, she spoke "Everyone, please calm down. Rathod sir, commissioner sir wants to talk to you. He's waiting for your reply."
"But Riya they.." Sameer started before lowering his voice just for her to hear "they are your in-laws. His dad and his Lata mausi."
Riya's eyes widened at his words as she look at Suryakant and realised how similar features he and Arjun have, she exclaimed in a whisper "They are!"
She gulped down to calm herself and spoke softly "Aunty, Uncle, abhi sirf unke blood relatives ko milna allowed hain. Aur kuch security reasons ki wajah se unhe yahan nahi rakha gaya hai tou please ap dono mere saath aaiye." Saying so she gestured them ahead.
"What do you mean? Why only blood related? Mai assistant ke saath saath Arjun ki bachpan ki dost aur uski mangetar (fiance) bhi hun." Ruchi Singhania spoke demandingly.
Riya raised her eyebrows at her words while Ayesha, Chotu and Sameer hissed in shock.
Suryakant frowned at her words and scolded her "Bas Ruchi. Apni maryada mei rehna yaad hai ya mai yaad dilaoun."
"Par uncle.."
"Kuch nahi sunna. Maine ya Arjun ne kabhi tumse koi rishta nahi lagaya tou apne mann ki baatein aise dusron par mat daalo." Suryakant spoke furiously then he turned to look at Riya, subconsciously his eyes fell on her baby bump so he changed his harsh tone and asked softly "tum kon ho?"
Sudden change in his tone, made Riya nervous but she still respectfully answered "Riya, ETF ki senior inspector, Arjun sir ki junior aur..."
Hearing Arjun's name, mausi started sobbing again. Riya hurriedly held her arm and said patting her back softly "Aunty please.. iss tarah mat kariye apki tabiyat kharab ho jayegi."
"Mera beta!" She whimpered as she cried.
"Par Suryakant uncle, mai.." Ruchi again tried to intervene.
"Miss, please keep your voice down. It's a hospital, not your living room." Riya spoke strictly before guiding the older people to the ward Arjun was in.
Reaching inside, Sameer and Riya made them sit down and started explaining everything after closing the door.
"Uncle, Arjun is injured but fine. We had to release the false news to get a hold on criminal gang. Sorry we forgot to inform you all." Sameer said apologetically.
Lata cried in relief, she stood up and came near Arjun's bed caressed his cheeks with shivering hand. Her tears shed continuosly while thanking God for keeping him safe.
Suryakant who had his broad shoulders stiff and tense till now, suddenly felt exhausted as his shoulders droop and his head bowed down as if all the energy left his body.
Seeing their condition broke Riya's heart as her eyes brimmed with tears, she sniffled before rubbing her eyes.
Her sniffle made Suryakant raised his head to look at her inquisitively. But he turned to ask Sameer "Jab tum log ko ye sab karna hi tha tou uski family ko pehle se warn karna zaroori nahi samjha?"
"Uncle woh.. Roshini ke baad se Arjun ki family..." Sameer tried to say that they forgot anyone would be worried for Arjun other than Riya and ETF since there was no one beside Arjun even when he lost Roshini but he couldn't say it without being disrespectful.
Riya informed "Sir, commissioner sir is eagerly waiting for you, apko jana chahiye."
"Okay Riya. Take care of them and you be careful too." Sameer said before adding "Uncle, Riya se baat karke apko samajh aa jayega, kyun hum apko inform karna bhool gaye. Phir bhi galti meri hai tou I'm really sorry."
Sameer left after apologizing and Ayesha came in with two bottles of mineral water and cups. She passed a cup to Lata mausi before pouring another for Suryakant who held the cup silently. Ayesha asked Riya to sit and relax before giving her a cup of water too. After drinking and composing herself, Riya voiced out the question which has been disturbing her. "Aunty, uncle, jab Arjun ne Roshini ji ko khoya tha tab ap log kahan the? I'm sorry for asking this, but Arjun needed his family at that time, he was all alone. Tab.. tab ap sab kahan the?"
"Dekho ladki, tumhe isse kya? Tum.." embarassed Suryakant tried to say something but Lata mausi interrupted "Kyunki hum uss waqt India mei nahi the. Uss haadse ke kuch din pehle hi mujhe cardiac arrest hua tha, meri beti ne mujhe ilaaj ke liye America bula liya.. itna dur akele travel karne se mai darr rahi thi aur tabiyat bhi kharaab thi isliye Surya mere saath gaya tha. Meri surgery ke waqt hi use khabar mili, mujhse kaam ka urgent bol kar 2 din ke baad ki flight se hi India wapas aaya lekin mere na hone ki wajah se ye himmat hi nahi juta paya. Jab mai wapas aayi 3 mahine baad tou kehta hai 'kya muh leke jata uske paas uski tou shaadi ki shubhkamnaye bhi nahi di, apni bahu ko kabhi aashirwaad tak nahi diya. Ab uske marne ke baad kya kehta apne bete se?' Huh.. pagal kahin ka apne hi bete se milne ke liye bhi koi bahane dhundta hai. Arre beta hai haq se uske paas jata lekin.." saying so she sighed "baar baar mujhe phone karke puchta raha 'Arjun se baat hui kya? kaisa hai woh..? Koi hai uske paas?' thak haar ke jab maine zid ki ke chal mere saath usse milne tab tak mera baccha apne dil ko sakht karke apne kaam mei lag gaya tha usne tou mere phone ka jawab dena bhi bandh kar diya tha. Mai aur Surya uske ghar ka darwaza khatkhatate rahe lekin woh hume kahin nahi mila. Aj bhi Surya kisi deal ke chakkar mei Pune mei tha jab ye news suna.." Lata huffed at the end. Riya sighed thinking that Arjun must have distanced himself on purpose to protect them from being Sikander's target.
"Aunty, uss ghar mei Roshini ka murder hua tha Arjun felt suffocated remembering that incident. Aur Roshini ka kaatil bhi arrest nahi hua tha isliye sabki safety ke liye woh sabko avoid kar rahe the." Riya said sighing.
"Hume hamare bete ki majboori bataane wali tum hoti kon ho? Kisne tumhe ye haq diya, haan?" Suryakant asked frustrated that an outsider is explaining his son's reason.
"Uncle, woh.." Ayesha found it disrespecting so she tried to speak up for Riya. But her words were interrupted by a rough hoarse voice saying "MAI NE."
Everyone gasped and turned to the person laying on the bed, while Suryakant stood up hurriedly before stepping near the bed, whispering "Arjun."
Arjun opened his eyes, he was semi-conscious since he felt presence of people in his room. By the time Riya asked that question, he was awake but didn't opened his eyes as a tear of pain slid down his cheek. He really needed them at that time, even though he was avoiding them for their safety but like ETF if.. if his father did contact him, continuously poked him with questions or scolded him for avoiding them, then he might have shared his pain with him, would have grasp the respite from his loneliness and pain.
Sighing, he stretched his hand towards Riya who nervously held it. Holding her hand, Arjun said looking at his father "Agar apne meri khabar li hoti tou shayad apko pata hota ke maine Riya ko ye haq diya. She has every right on me kyunki day one se apse zyada mera saath isne nibhaaya hai, mere ghamo ki saathi aur mera..."
Shocked, Lata mausi excitedly cried "Arjun mera baccha
Suryakant asked in low voice cutting Arjun in mid "Matlab kya hai tumhara? Ye..?"
"Riya is my wife. So legally and personally, she have all the rights on me. Mr. Rawte, Lata mausi isse miliye. Ye hai meri RIYA, MERI BETTER HALF, MERI HAMSAFAR, MERI BIWI AUR MERA PYAAR!" Arjun exclaimed tugging at her hand as he smile in relief.
"KYA!?"
"OH!"
Suryakant and Lata widened their eyes in shock as they looked at Arjun then at Riya. Riya lowered her head as she blushed.
Understanding his words, Lata hurriedly came near Riya, she held her hand in shock and realisation before hugging her happily as she thanked God in whisper. Suryakant also smiled as he realized that his son has someone in his life to take care of him.

"Ooooooh!!!" Shree and Liza hooted and laughed as Chotu and Ayesha told them about everything.
Sameer chuckled, as he listened to their words through his phone.
"Alright, team! Now let's get serious. Team, commissioner sir assigned us with a new case to solve beside the assassins. Can we focus?"
"Yes Sir!" Everyone replied getting serious.
